Well, I think it's important that we know this guy is monitoring the site. It's a bit different than Sam poking around. If he is still here, I think he should be identified so folks aren't purposely set-up or singled out for harassment off-site due to what they post here.

By banning Web Sheriff, as HQ did, there's an implication something is being done on the site that shouldn't be.
I say roll out the red carpet. Join the party!
If there's a problem, say so, and it can be corrected.

It's impossible to screen everyone, with all the members and altars. If someone wants to do surveilance, they will.

lol you oviously didn't see the flaming posts back and forth between WS and angry members. THAT is why they were banned. Plus, we agreed to let them address members directly as this is one of the things requested by NPG, but within certain guidelines. WS refused to follow the guidelines. A ban was definately in order.

If I let you come into my house but asked you to be respectful of my rules but you refused to do so, should I allow you to stay? Think about it....

allowing the web sheriff to the web site is like they are the boss of HQ... i can understand why HQ banned him in the first place.

Would u let a stranger/police officer rule over your house?

i'm really surprised at the concern over WB being here. all of our forums are open to public viewing...he did not ask us to create an account...he just did. and if he is following all the rules of this website, why would be remove him?

i do understand how some folks would feel a bit icky that other's are watching but....well, others are always watching...our jobs...the press...the government.they are watching you.

what? Warner Brothers posts here? lol

J/K!

I think the concern isn't so much them watching us, i think people's concern is WS actively engaging you in conversations not knowing that is who you are talking to. HQ is also open to viewing, and even though we repeatedly banned NPG members for abuse, everyone knows they still lurk on the boards. He only asked permission because he did the same thing, signed up without anyone's knowledge but then was subsquently banned for violations. Talks following this allowed him to rejoin to address the members under certain conditions, which he agreed to but refused to follow.

Edited for typos....

pplrain...u really need a reality check sweetie.

no one is trying to distribute his work. the whole point of prince.org and housequake.com is to promote his work without any financial gain. the sites are just for like minded invidiuals who appreciate his talent. as goes with the territory, some people get more into than others, like wanting to see the latest pic, etc. others take a different approach, by actively seeking to discuss his albums, etc.

I can think of many times that the existence of these sites has been financially beneficial to Prince (while Ben, Endre nor Aaron are benefitting financially, in fact they PAY for these sites out of their own funds). There wsa a recent thread that said I really discovered the funky Prince and want to buy more music, what do you suggest I buy?

These boards were able to offer that answer two-fold, they pointed that person to all of Prince's discography (which htw, he wants removed from the sites), and other members were able to actively engage in conversations with this customer of Prince to make suggestions on which albums to buy.

Think about it...

You don't find it at all disconcerting that folks are having pictures (not even of Prince) removed from their Photobucket or Myspace accounts with no warning? How about him going after Hucky?

We've always known that Sam & company monitored the sites, but it's a little different when it's some guy who files thousands of DMCA notices every day (which he professes), whether they're valid or not. It's not like he's a regular person who registered because he wants to fawn over Prince. He's here to watch & gather evidence, plain and simple.

SOS, have you even looked at his site? You should check it out and do a little web research on his operation. Unfortunately, I think the site and/or it's members will find out what happens when you've let the fox into the henhouse.

Nope! I missed the flaming posts. Anyone who consistantly breaks site rules can and should be banned.
WS should be treated as anyone else. There needs to be civil interaction all around.

am i annoyed by prince's current demands, sure? but you can't prevent the fox from entering your house if you have a fence is wide open 24/7. folks, i repeat: all forums on the org are accessible by the public...

and nothing has changed here. now, could it? sure, who knows what's going to happen tomorrow...but we don't need to create mass hysteria in regards to the org. yet.

Well, since WS's occupation is the ONLY reason he's here, to me that makes a difference. It's not like he's a fan who is here to participate in the community, he's here to hold a legal hammer over us. But, keep burying your heads in the sand, it is less painful than reality.

Seriously, the way this guy operates is scary. Everyone should take a few minutes to read these links (including the embedded ones) which are about others' experiences with WS. Check out the comments also; #25 from Pirate Bay is amusing, #s 25 & 34 are great. The responses from WS look like a 17 yr old wrote them, an entire paragraph is made from one sentence. lol

It isn't so much that I think he should be blocked from here since he hasn't done anything wrong that we know of...yet (well, except for the Photobucket/Myspace stuff disappearing suddenly). But, I do think that folks need to be aware he's here given the recent actions elsewhere.
