Health & Wellbeing Forum

Here's a list of recent threads which could have fitted into a "Health & Wellbeing" forum...

Doctor Links a Man’s Il...corn Habit
I have health insurance!
Why am I awake!?!??!
American girls' suicide rates spike
blah i have a cold..
Britain approves human-an...o research
Purging .....
Are You Lactose Intolerant?
Arsenic in drinking water... as threat
Affection
Soy Sauce
Britain to put picture wa...o products
Women's Beauty Products Men Love!!
Sex Is So Good
I'm hungry.
How do you know when you're in love?
Has anyone tried the Mast...nade Diet?
Freshly made Pizza
I'm Fat. Volume 347.
Stress
Fashion question
When did you start feeling old?
Are u trying to quit anything?
Okay. Forgot to add (to the fat thread)
Do u think mood swings ar...on phases?
Sinus sugery
What makes a member of th... with you?

I really do think that these threads would have been better served in an enviroment which was separated from the Politics & Religion and General Discussion forums.

Some of these threads might be light-hearted in tone, but that doesn't stop them from being serious. They could easily have developed further in a separate forum which had specific moderation to prohibit jokey responses.

Please, please, please consider it.

Well, seeing as we all spend so much time at the Org, it'd be great if we could get something a little more positive from the experience at times.

We could discuss hair-care products too - you big mop-haired studmuffin. smile

Well, I suppose I have an extensive knowledge on haircare I'm willing to share. I've come a long way from pouring half a can of Lilt on my head in the vain hope of resembling an Ayrian Ian McCulloch ('79-'88).

So, would this be a positive vibe type of thread? Only keeping threads and posts that are well intentioned and offer information or suggestions for a healthier you? I like it! biggrin

Yeah! All jokey responses and salacious comments would be snipped. Silly, sarcastic or ironic threads would have to be moved to G.D.

I'd be all over a forum like this! I've started and contributed to certain "raw food" discussions in GD.

as for anyone who questions the relevance of such a forum on a Prince site... well, isn't he a very health-conscious kind of guy? how many people went, say, vegan because of him at one time?

I agree. There's also no apparent relevance for there being a Politics & Religion forum either - but it's obviously utilised.

It's interesting that the P&R forum is self-policed to some degree, in that members know instinctively not to post threads there, such as "Scan Your Butt-Cheeks" - or whatever.

A Health & Wellbeing forum could be afforded the same respect with little intervention from the moderators.

Yes, P&R is there because Prince is religious and expresses plenty of opinions about the state of the world in his music... Therefore there are fans who like to talk about the same, and they gravitate to that forum.

Right, I remember sos saying at one time that P&R needed a lot less moderation than say, P M&M.

By the way, know what Prince eats for breakfast? Steamed vegetables! He's a health nut, no wonder he looks so good!

Good idea, but I think most ppl would still wanna hang around GD and therefore miss out on alot of threads in this new forum. If ppl want health and wellbeing they tend to visit other sites.

I'd like to see an "Outdoors Activities" forum, but that's out of the question! biggrin

The only way to have a serious "Health and Wellbeing Forum" is ban the GD crew. As soon as the topic of sex comes up, all hell would break out!

I suppose discussion of outdoor activities would fit in, if the activities promoted health and wellbeing. smile

It'd just have to be really strictly moderated so that people would be aware that "humourous" responses were disallowed.

Mate, didn'y you and i recently have a fight about being able to say what ever you want in a public forum? How does that fit with "disallowing" humour?

The same way that a post regarding E.L.O.'s soundtrack to 'Xanadu' would be disallowed from residing in this forum.

No that is off forum. Humour is not specific to a topic or discussion it can be found everywhere. That is a ridiculous statement.

Well what I'm saying is that humorous threads and responses would have to be moderated as being "off forum" if we were discussing serious issues regarding our health and well-being.

By "humourous responses" I meant black comedy; sick gags; infantile sniggering - not light-heartedness or whimsy (for want of a better word).

I don't mind having such a forum, I don't know if I will post in it or not, but what I definitely know is that I dislike a "no humour allowed" policy for ANY of the forums!!!

This is prince.org. If humour is allowed even in the "Prince" forum (which somehow should be considered central forum of the site, as it is a Prince site), then I don't see any justification to ban it in any other forum. It's not even the case in P&R, and there are many sensitive topics discussed there!

I'm sure there are health-related websites out there having such a "no humour" policy, so I'd recommend to google and go there for that purpose maybe.
