There's no discussing science outside of politics and religion these days. I say P&R sounds good.
Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ
πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

Often times serious threads leaning towards medical/science are postd here.

If moved to GD they often get lost in the haze of GD-ness

I wanted to ask again for others opinions on threads posted in P&R that are not just P&R topics ...

Do you feel it is a better forum to keep more serious medical - science type threads in ?

Politics and Religion is based on philosophy. Science is more fact driven. (Maybe a finance, business, science forum?)
Either way, science is best in GD vs a forum where those with pre-conceived beliefs debate.
Here's a few topics as an example:

"Challenge for AIDS Fighters: Circumcising Africans Safely"
"Behind the Costs of Saving Preterm Babies"
"FDA Probes Popcorn Flavor's Cancer Link"
"Merck's New HIV Drug Receives Backing for Quick Approval"
"Virus Suspected as Cause of US Honeybee Deaths"

Those all belong in P&R? Along with all medical topics?

Psst, get rid of that unused alt.music.prince forum, and use it for something more interesting.

Medical science belongs in a "Health & Wellbeing" forum - which we desperately need. smile

As for technology, engineering and other branches of science, they don't really belong in "Politics & Religion" but at least they're treated in the correct manner there.

So my health thread then could actually go in P&R or H&W... because it covers both issues (health & farm subsidies)...

hmmm

That goes without saying, but to be clearer I mean that some people seem to be unable to respect other people's beliefs and that goes for both sides - religious and science believing people. In my experience (on this site) though it's much more common for religious people to jump on people who don't agree and wanting to write their beliefs on other people's noses than the other way around.

Just give religion its own board and let all those wacky christians hang out and talk bout jebus to their heart's content.

If governmental farm-subsidies were causing health issues, then the topic could go either way, dependant on the thread's content.

If Bob Dylan organised another Farm Aid concert, discussions of the performances would belong in the "Music: Non-Prince" forum, whereas discussions of his reasons for staging the concert would belong in the "Politics & Religion" forum.
