again - P&R + Science

Often times serious threads leaning towards medical/science are postd here.

If moved to GD they often get lost in the haze of GD-ness

I wanted to ask again for others opinions on threads posted in P&R that are not just P&R topics ...

Do you feel it is a better forum to keep more serious medical - science type threads in ?

Yea, keep them here. You know eventually they will come around to God anyway.

Yes, but.... it's NOT ok for people to make it about religion or politics if it isn't, and you know that's not always the case but it happens way too much. twocents

For many people there is no line, if they hold a faith it may very will impact the areas where this will touch. Just because YOU dont see it has a cross over that does not mean that is the case for others.

That goes without saying, but to be clearer I mean that some people seem to be unable to respect other people's beliefs and that goes for both sides - religious and science believing people. In my experience (on this site) though it's much more common for religious people to jump on people who don't agree and wanting to write their beliefs on other people's noses than the other way around.

Well i agree there is a lack of respect but i feel it is equal on both sides, the religious crowd think the non belivers are silly and the non believers think the belivers are thick...at least that is how it looks to me.

confused yeah things get lost in GD
but i don't venture into p&r too often
because i can't stomach the same bickering.

i dunno. i suppose the forum should be expanded to current events discussion
as a lot of topics there already are neither political nor religious.

If GD was a true General Discussion forum then technically that would be the place for it.

I think it's to the credit of P&R mods and posters that P&R is now (finally) seen as a place for serious threads like this, instead of a place where you drain off the "touchy" subjects.

Once again, the community trumps the design.

wikipedia:
Science (from the Latin scientia, 'knowledge'), in the broadest sense, refers to any systematic knowledge or practice. In a more restricted sense, science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on the scientific method, as well as to the organized body of knowledge gained through such research.[

I see science capable of being in ALL forums. Including M&M. When there was a discussion on Prince's son's death, I went into detail about the description of Pfeiffer's syndrome, so everyone interested, would have an understanding of the tragedy. Science should never be limited. It's info that needs to be posted as related to the topic.

Agreed. For example, did P engage in some embryonic stem cell research for the biological and scientific underpinnings of Future Baby Mama?

I'd like to know.
