Well I think it is a great idea except for one thing - no one ever leaves the Org They threaten to, they may even stop posting for a bit or set up a new username, but they always come back eventually. Anyone who makes a big fuss about leaving with attention-seeking threads etc clearly has no intention of leaving

Seeing as I've obviously misjudged you Ian ... and btw I honour your principles (you must truly be a ), how about moderating the Goodbye threads by putting it to a public vote.

I propose the following: when somebody posts an I'm Leaving thread, you (as Moderator) ask whether anyone seconds that motion ... If you get 10 replies from 10 different people agreeing to the proposal, you would take that as a thumbs down (I expect you to keep up with the Roman imagery here btw). If not, that person is allowed to stay. So the decision isn't yours as Caesar (sorry "moderator") ... it falls to us (the Senate) I think all moderators should also have an extra avatar dipicting a laurel crown btw. Did you know that some Roman Emperors were elected Gods by the people? (not that I'm crawling in order to win my point, you understand).

Anyway, I say "Death to these Goodbye threads!" ... I hope you say "I came, I saw, I terminated!"

goodbye thread should = automatic delete...if u were moving away from 2 a new town would u put up a billboard in the middle of town 2 announce your departure? No you would gather w/ friends and family privately 2 say goodbye...as it should b w/ the org
