I started a thread on a topic in the Prince forum, and some idiot came along and made a comment and falsely accusing me of something that was not true. I reported it to the moderators twice, and that idiot's comments are still on my thread. Usually when I complain about someone being nasty, the mods take care of it right away, but this time, it seems like my request is being ignored. I would like an explanation, please, since I am not too happy about this.

I am not a Mod in that forum - I can say that sometimes I go away for a weekend and complaints made in P&R on a friday may not get attention til monday.

Mods don't live here 24/7. I get to the requests as soon as I get online.

Well, I don't find his comments to be humorous, to be honest, and I really wish they would get the snip. I first posted my response with the laughing emoticon, trying to keep it light, then the jerk can back with the comment, "Please do not bring your intrusive questions here. Moderators, in here now please." Another orger saw what he wrote, and did not like it either, so I don't think it's just me being overly sensitive. I don't like his attitude, and will be avoiding him in the future.

ARe you talking about conciouscontact? He is a nice guy. Seriously he is English and what he said was sarcasm. Like "lookout she is exposing the cult remove her" its a joke. Irony,sarcasm.

People need to understand that this is just a website and not reality in any way shape or forum, even those of us who have met each other know the difference

Well, duh, I think I know that the website is not reality. Anybody with half of a brain knows that. I certainly have met my share of orgers over the years, so I do know the difference. But if you're not familiar with "British humor", then it would be easy for someone to be offended with it, as I was. I can remember my posts being cut in the past for making a comment that was not meant to be offensive, but to somebody else, it was.

This raises a great question.


What if one person becomes deeply offended by a post, but it's obvious to all the mods and everyone else that the comment was sarcasm not meant as a personal attack?

Is the mere fact that it is offensive to one person enough?


Or what if one person takes offense to a true personal attack, but it's done in such a way that mods can't truly verify if it is a personal attack or not? Like say, someone's mom passes away, and another orger knows this, and says "yo momma" to one of their posts. Everyone else could perceive it as being silly when it's truly malicious.

I could what-if till infinity though, but it bears light on how difficult a moderator's job is.

I often wonder why people say "It's just a website" and not reality. Are we not

real people behind the computer? Does it make it ok to offend someone (not saying

that's the case in this thread being talked about) People rely on being anonymous

too much in my opinion. Just because something does not offend one person does not

make it non offensive to one. This has to be reality, people meet and even fall in

love all from "just a website".
