Is an Ignore Feature Possible?

Can there be a selection by which accounts are ignored and theor posts are not visible to the one doing the ignoring?

It's a powerful tool to drive away trolls [snip - CarrieMpls]

Currently it is not an available feature in the forums. You can block people from orgnoting you and I believe there may be an ignore feature in the chat? Can another mod answer that question?
We can suggest it to Ben for future enhancements, but I honestly don't know how soon that may be.

As always, if you are being harrassed or see baiting, trolling, etc., please report the posts to moderators. We do not see all threads and every post.

I don't think this is a feature that will come to life - it doesn't seem likely. But, suggest it to Ben, he may be able to do it.

Plus - I like to know what's going on all the time. Like they said in the Godfather II movie, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer".

While technically possible (although not a "cheap" feature to add), it's not usually that useful anyhow, because what ends up happening is you ignore someone, they post dumb stuff, lots of people quote it and start talking about it, and you're then stuck reading quoted bits of a message you didn't see, etc. Since there's no easy way to ignore ALL references to the person (ie parts of a post that talk about it), it doesn't work so well in the end.

But as you can see, I've thought about it previously smile If I thought it would really be a big win, I'd implement it. If people have other suggestions or ideas about this, or how it'd work better, please reply!
