There are way too many MJ threads on here.

Alot of Prince fans need to learn how to respect the man though, when I visit MJ sites I dont see hundreds of nasty comments about Prince.

There is nothing wrong with talking about his music, but when it gets personal its when it should be stopped.

I am a really big jackson fan....

i am NOT on any janet jackson thread.. i am banned from one.... because they thought i constantly insulted janet... and the other jackson forum has the worst people there...

I am on lots of MJ sites.. so many... but they are small.. and people rarely post thier... like maybe three to 10 people post their.. i barely get on those forums... the biggest MJ site that im on is Mjjforum.com and I don't really post their that much... it just doesnt intrest me right now..

anyways I like the prince.org the best right now.... thats why im on this forum the most... and the forum that im the most is where i will post my threads.... if people have problems with it then oh well...

And the fact that you admit that you "just got a warning for that" is very telling.

What are some of you freaking out about? The non-MJ fans here are the ones starting all these threads just to be nasty and spiteful, the ones who continue stretching these threads with crap! so why gripe about it now? if you kick common sense out the window this whole 'clogging' of the 'NON PRINCE' section of the forum will continue!

I bet you if all the threads about MJ's appearance and personal business were minimized, some of you would stop being so nasty and ridiculous with your comments, 'cause obviously seeing all these threads are pissing you off royally!

It appears that you can’t win for losing.

I could put up stickies for threads regarding MJ and Maddy (or any other much talked about artist), and that would please half of the people. The other half would string a rope around the nearest tree for which to hang me on while chanting “An MJ sticky on a Prince website! Blasphemy!” (it’s happened!)

Of course I’d have orgers chiming in on why I would do such a thing… then, of course, others would list reasons why I should or should not do things… get my drift?

In the past, when things like this happen, I have made an MJ sticky and redirected Orgers to it. For some it worked and for some it didn’t. Such is the way of the world here at the Org. I have come to this conclusion: You can’t fix what is not broken. You can make minor repairs, such as shutting down threads that get out of hand, or redirecting peeps from one thread to another thread already created, and locking up the dupe… etc. But even that is not a cure-all. And, in all honesty – it’s truly not “broken”…

So, then I leave it up to you… author of this thread (and the author of the other thread complaining about MJ threads)… in this twisted irony, you have, in fact, created another MJ thread! I know the subject matter is different, but we’re still talking about MJ or Maddy, or _____ (insert oft talked about artist here)!

In a perfect world I would suggest for people to read the title of the thread, decide if it’s what you’re interested in, and then decide to open that thread or not. I would suggest that people take a look on what’s being talked about in this forum and decide whether or not another thread is needed on this particular artist, or can the same thing be said in a thread already created – then make the big decision to create or post.

Another scenario: Believe it or not, we moderators do not look at every thread or post on this site. If there is flaming going on “for two days” or so, report it to us by using the “report to moderator” button at the bottom of each post… it then flags us to check out what’s going on! Not once has anyone done so in the thread that was brought to our attention (on the other MJ complaint thread…), your help is appreciated when you can.

So, what to do about the current situation at hand? We need to look at the topic. We need to look at the sincerity of the thread – was it created just to create another MJ thread or was it a genuine interest thread on the artist in question? A lot of the topics listed in this forum on MJ are different and are sincere – so, a different thread is excusable and allowed. Yes, there are other artists worthy of discussion, but I have found that Prince fans and Michael fans and Madonna fans tend to visit the same sites or have the same tastes, therefore you’re gonna see a lot of threads on these artists.

With that in mind, let’s try to be a little more open to these things… no need to get so angry or upset. We, as mods, make every attempt to handle things that appear to cause concern to the Orgers on this site. Don’t think we aren’t aware of the sudden influx of same artist threads – that’s why the statement on this very subject is up there (hell, I wrote it!). We have not died, nor fallen asleep… we are on it. We are taking action when required, or letting it be when it appears that there may not be any rules being violated.
