I'm working on some changes, mostly invisible (I hope), for example a major database upgrade, and during periods of time over the next few days, I'll be taking the site down here and there. There should typically be a "down for maintenance" message up when I do it. Anyhow, just be warned!

Ben, considering all the hoopla with 7/7/07 happening this weekend, reports news and pics coming in and orgers trying to hook up with each other, is it possible to keep it minimal over the next day or two?

I mean, if this is the time you have carved out to do it, by all means. It's definitely needed. But it's a busy Prince News weekend is all.

The problem is, there's never going to be a "good time". There's quite a few who are attached to the site and others who log on, and there may be serious withdrawal issues. With advanced notice there's plenty of time to coerce one's physician for a prescription of a strong sedative, or a good time to have a 'lost weekend"....plan ahead, that's what I always say!!
If Ben's working on it, let him get the job done!!!

I hope, with the major database upgrade, that it will correct the problem of the org crashing as much as it does.

I'm NOT pushing out my changes from the past few hours, though, "just in case". I'll wait until Sunday sometime to do that.

It turns out I hit a major roadblock with the DB upgrade, so I think that's not doable anytime soon

On the other hand, I will release the new code with changes like...
- "Remember me" option during login (like the auto-login cookie but not "hidden" and works from multiple computers at once
- Some really minor bugfixes and code cleanup, mostly only visible to me
- A few new emoticons

So, nothing earth-shattering, but good stuff. I think the auto-login thing will be especially handy to a lot of people.
