Politics AND Religion

Giovanni777's thread had me thinking.

Is Politics and Religion being grouped together a reflection of the American discourse on politics? In America, you can't eat, breath, and spit if you are a politition unless you profess a Religion and your religious beliefs. The secularism in America barely needs a push and a nudge to become secular like...say Turkey. Barely secular.

Anyways, that being said, is this unique to the American discussion of Politics? That Religion is grouped into it? Or is this a natural grouping with you folks from other countries as well? confuse

Would splitting the two present more problems than it solves? confuse
I know you can't have a political debate with a religious angle here. I guess it would be true elsewhere too?

nod like in saudi arabia where women are being 'segregated" from men in the workplace due to a newer, stricter interpretation of religious law forbidding co-mingling of the sexes.
