i wonder, is there a way to annonymously contribute to the org so that ben can upgrade our server yet not know who has donated thus eliminating his concern that folks will use their contributions against the org and expect special treatment...anyone know?

cause the org could be so nice...a wonderful world...a paradise.

i would want special privlidges smile

Okay, now I just re-typed my whole message and it was twice the size that it was when I did it last time. So, let me just say this, I am going to try my damnedest not to say what I want to say to a lot of the people who are in charge in here. But, boy, oh, boy, are you guys/gals really pushing my buttons! mad I am not even going to attempt to type it anymore, I am so disgusted. UGHHHH!!!! confused

Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just that I really can't conjure up the ideas that I wanted to share and they were a lot, too. pout

I used hate this,
but now, it gives ma an excuse to just stare blankly at the screen for minutes at a time.

It's really quite a nice break from having to deal with reality, actually.

I feel everyone's pain (well, a little anyhow smile )

I know it's gotten a lot worse lately, and for that I definitely apologize. I don't really know what the deal is, and haven't had time to dig into it. I *do* plan to look into it, however, and maybe even this post-4th is the time to do it... I have some time off.

I actually am open to the donation / subscription thing as well, and even putting ads on the site when there's a reason to (for example, he's touring and we get a lot of visitors interested in ticket agencies), even though in the past I've NOT been interested in doing this (well, we tried ads, and it worked OK, but...)

The key thing is that yes, I really do run this as a labor of love (as the mods to as well, in fact their "job" is 100x harder and more time-consuming than mine), and I just haven't had the time to put into it lately (like, the last 3 years). I really do intend to spend some effort on improving things, and will keep folks abreast of changes. The worst thing is the crash that happens when mods move posts, for example, which basically takes down the org for 5+ minutes. I've tried to debug this before and didn't get anywhere. I'm going to give it another shot, soon.

I apologize for the inconvenience... it sucks, I know. I'll work on some fixes...

Sincerely,
Ben

omg, thank u ben 4 this site

i only discovered the org in Jan 07 and when my own bug killed my puter 4 a few months, i really missed it.

kudos 2 Ben for his Labour of Love and 2 all the Mods 4 the time and effort u all put into this site.

i personally get a little frustrated when the bug hits coz i like spending time here
the org is such a great community of ppl from all walks of life- brought 2 gether by their common interest in Prince.

oh and one last thing
where do i donate? lol
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

Ok, Thanks, so long as it just isn't me. I am not experiencing it on any other site. And just in the GD forum.
I was wondering if I had hit a button and blocked the site or something. I will try in internet explorer. smile

Awhile ago, I mentioned something in the 'Suggestion' thread saying.. maybe there can be an option where if ppl are posting in the wrong forum .. the site
will put up a block saying 'Wrong Forum' and direct them to the right forum and can eliminate alot of threads being moved..

Only thing with that is, how will the site know it's the wrong forum?

If you're suggesting that the members decide, without using the "report to moderator" button (like if say each post had a "wrong forum" button, with the option of choosing which forum the thread should be sent to) I could totally see it being abused.
