Ben's the man that handles avatar approval, and he's pretty busy at the mo... so it'll be done whenever he gets a chance to do it.

A good way to ensure that you're not left without an avatar is to choose an avatar pic you like and stick with it Since it requires moderator intervention, changing your pic frequently is always going to be a slow process.
