Why Do You Post In The Wrong Forum?

As a mod i've had some longterm org veterans request that their thread be moved to the proper forum...usually with a note like: "oops, I didn't realize i was in the wrong forum".

Well, its always seemed kinda weird to me that that could happen so I am curious if anyone would share their experiences posting in the wrong forum. Were you drunk while posting? Having sex? Dropping the kids off at the pool? What was soo distracting that you posted your thread in the wrong forum?

I honestly believe that if we have an honest discussion about this topic we can prevent luv4u from crashing the org as she moves a thread into the proper forum. razz

Anyone up for sharing their story?

Early this morning I moved several threads and the org didn't crash at all giggle

If there seriously is a problem with threads crashing the org down when moved then perhaps we can look at a different method for dealing with threads posted in the wrong forums.

Perhaps Locking them 1st then explaining to the POSTER of the thread that it is in the wrong forum and that if they choose they can start the thread over in "so and so" forum ... maybe the org would not crash as much if we asked the orgers to be a bit more accountable for what they post and where !(?)

There ya go: apparantly it's not obvious enough in what forum you're in when hitting the start new topic button.

Maybe an idea to add an off-colour banner above the input screen of a "start new topic" saying something like: Starting new topic in the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum.

Or maybe even better, that you have to select in which forum to start your new topic.

With extra warnings like: don't do it and click here to report your new topic to the mod etc.
You don't scare me; i got kids
