Expanding on forum/sight rules I was reading some info shared with me by a fellow mod about "Trolls" and baiting ...
I am wondering if it would be a good idea to state in the sight rules in a clearer fashion what trolls and baiting and all those good little terms we use mean. So that users know clearer what they are and so that mods can point offenders to the exact deffinition of the rule they broke when we issue strikes or bans. Not just a random opinion from a mod but a unified "rule" we go by that is there for each member to access. Ideas ? Thoughts ?

Well
I was made aware again just now of how some orgers simply do not know or understand what trolling and baiting means. This can't just be happening in the P&R forum ...

in the meantime, could you give us a good definition?

Since the site has an international community the meanings may not be clear. Cultures vary. Plus for older orgers such as myself the words aren't something one can look up in a dictionary. One orger was accused of "baiting" in a forum and I didn't see it that way. Again, intent is what needs to be looked at, along with the context.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...rnet_troll http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming A baiter is someone in an Internet dicsussion group who deliberately posts aggravating messages on a message board. Often, this is part of a previous conflict between the baiter and the baiter's intended target. Baiters are different from Flamers because they do not directly insult their target; instead, they post something likely to aggravate him/her.

i also am going to request clarification on the homophobia/racist portion of the rules.
as it stands right now, i have had to repeatedly endure seeing myself and other gay folk on the org told we are no different than murderers, pedophiles, and rapists, and it is starting to get really annoying. i understand that the fundamentalists want to voice their opinion, and they should be free to do such, but this gay = murder, rape, and child molestation thing is extremely false and extremely offensive. several of them are actually doing it to intentionally cause a reaction. the rules state: "Do not post racist or 'hateful' material.
This means no racist/homophobic comments, period. Discussions of racism itself in the proper forum are OK. Making hateful comments, directed at a person or group, may get your account immediately suspended. We are extremely serious about this. prince.org is not a place for racial bigotry or hateful speech. please advise.
