LOCKING DOWN ALL SUPERBOWL THREADS

Prince playing the Superbowl is the biggest news to happen since he released 3121... and there are different topics about it - - sure, all about the Superbowl event but not necessarily the same exact topic.

So what if there is a lot of threads about it? All those locks seem excessive and undercut the enthusiasm people are feeling... IMHO.

BananaCologne and I have been keeping the forum tidy and not flooded.

Those sticky threads were created for a reason. When major events happen such as the Brit Awards, people go nuts with excitement and create a multitude of threads which saturates the forum. Better to have a sticky(ies) where people can read and contribute. biggrin

Eh meh geh. You say tomato.... shrug

By the same token, one could say flooding the forum with multiple threads about the same subject is excessive too. It's all about perspective.

This time around luv4u and I have really made an effort to try and keep everybody happy, by listening to comments from previous events such as the 3121 launch, The Brit Awards etc and implementing them into this sticky.

Hey, we can't please everybody, but we do try. I was up until 4am this morning (and I had work at 8am) trying to collate as much as possible into a 'one-stop-shop' thread so that all currently available information is available in one easy to navigate place. The intention being that the majority of orgers who don't want to waste their time searching for it, have it instantly on hand. From previous experience, we know there will always be those that don't agree with it, and they are more than entitled to that opinion. But in our eyes, we think the positive points far outweigh any negatives.

We realise your time is valuable, but hey - how about thinking of us once in awhile? Our time is precious too, and personally speaking, I don't want to be modding a mountain of unnecessary duplicate threads when a more viable and constructive alternative at a time like this is available and beneficial to all.

PS: For the record, I say tomato. smile

It is generally done ... locking duplicate threads with the same subject in all forums here.

"Prince / SUPERBOWL 1/2 time" and all the many outcropping type threads are under the same main subject

SUPERBOWL 1/2 time

If you dont keep them together the 1st 3+ pages would be filled with nothing but repeat threads in just a few days

can you imagine this weekend as the event grow close

I LOVE the sticky thread and the "one stop shopping"

I know that the Superbowl Halftime show is THE thing happening right now, but just imagine if Fruitattractedtobears BEAUTIFUL 20+ year old pictures (or something else beautiful but not SB related,) flew immediately to page 2 due to all the mulitple threads and we didn't have the to drool over them.

This is not the first time the mods have handled something like this. They know what they are doing and they do it for good reason.

Tomato/ Tomahto...some buzzes are killed by multiple locks...some are killed by multiple threads on the same topic ad nauseum.

The great thing about all of this is that PRINCE IS PLAYING THE SUPERBOWL HALFTIME SHOW!!!!!

It'll take an atomic bomb to kill my buzz over that!

Stymie

I definately believe there should only be one Superbowl thread. I wish there was a function to combine dupe threads like on Housequake.

Well, if you'd read the sticky properly, you would have seen that it's to avoid swamping the MAIN PRINCE FORUM.

and with that, this thread finally dies the death it deserves.
