Shouldn't General Discussion be just that?...

Why is there a moderator for General Discussion? If fellow p-listeners wanna chat on an off-topic occasionally, or rant about something, this should be the perfect spot.

For some (perhaps obvious) reason, I'm not really all that excited about GD reopening.

I was. And I was actually going to give it time... but it seems the honeymoon period IS over (as ian said). The moderator issues from the shut-down really haven't been resolved at all.

It's not that they're cleaning up the useless garbage. But that it appears that they never did look at what was wrong with their approach before.

Ah, well.. it's their site.

Well, we're doing our best. If you need to question the need for moderation, you must be a newbie - I've been posting on Prince.org since the very beginning and I think that some moderation can really help make the forum less of a breeding ground for loudmouths who just seek attention and set out to offend with racist materials etc.

We'll see how it goes. I'd rather not be heavy handed with the moderation tasks - so play nice and I won't have to get my moderator hat on too often. I post here too you know, I don't want things to suck like they did before.

As always, I'm open to feedback and suggestions so by all means drop me an Orgnote.

well, the job of moderating needs someone who is calm, collected and compassionate towards the visitors of the site...www.rottentomatoes.com does a wonderful job of moderating...

the approach that has been taken recently has major room for improvement...im hoping things get better..i really am..or i fear i wont be lasting around here much longer myself...

Ah don't worry about me - it's natural to feel annoyed when someone locks your thread. Hope you've forgiven me since then smile
