Words and language which should have restricted use on site. No matter what angle I look at the term "fucking idiot" there's no appropriate use for it. I realize banning specific words can be a can of worms, but surely the site can develope a list of "terms to avoid"??
The only time I see those words used, is in a hostile, escalating debate which has deteriorated to name calling. [Edited 11/16/06 15:31pm] | |

Name calling is not allowed. If you feel it's intentional and are offended, please click on the Report to Moderator button so the mods can deal with it. We mods have to wade through a lot of threads and deal with this and other issues. We can't be everywhere at all times. We do our best to deal with offenders and what not within this international community.
Reading into the threads, I've seen bantering that goes on back and forth on threads where it's obvious that there's some joking around that's going on, usually between orgers who know each other. I've also seen where it's obviously used to fight back and/or hurt the other person, those are the threads we have to deal with and do deal with the best we can.

"Fucking idiot" used in Prince M&M is generally used in a malicious manner, where as in GD with the party crew, it's more a term of endearment. Kind of like "I love you". (I've been posting here under several usernames over the years) It's a real shame, because this is the internet. I can imagine on how these people behave in real life... I conceded my position in reply #20. Because words have different meaning, depending on the forum and how used, it's impossible to make blanket decisions.
You can't ignore the fact with hotly debated topics, once certain profanity starts, it begins to get ugly with hurt feelings.... and people who'd rather be someplace else than here. If anyone can't understand that, nor empathise, it's because there's a lack of caring and consideration for others. | |

There's a wide range of age groups on this site, along with different backgrounds, and skill or lack of, with communicating. Maybe there are individuals who like to "fuck with people". I'm witnessing genuinely hostile people who also make me question how they behave outside of this place. Behind every entry on the site, there's a human being at a computer interacting with others who have similar interests. There are some who have situations current or in the past, what I would consider ABUSIVE. Those individuals don't feel good about themselves in the 1st place. And people are brutely honest about difficulties in their life AND get support here from people they don't know. (yeah! for Prince.org... luv this about the place ) Soooo the "You're a Fucking Idiot".....hate to see anyone slash their wrists or swallow a bottle of pills over a mistake like taking a website seriously. Part of my job with my employer is domestic violence screening. Some members on the site describe situations I think are pretty scarey. Many are past tense, which I feel better about.
Not too long ago,in my work experience, a woman was treated for orbital fractures from her spouse hitting her in the face. The globe wasn't salvagable. (enucleation) The worst is babies treated for a current head injury only to find old rib fractures on xray from abuse. This is more extreme examples.
