I don't know anything about what happened, but were the moderators notified when she was called that? Was the post reported? What was the action after that?

Posting here ultimately is a voluntary thing. Normally, if I have an issue with a person I try to take it to orgnotes first to see if it can be resolved, rather than moderated.

If that doesn't work, I just kind of terrorize them.

if it was said with malice, then maybe it should have been handled better. if it wasn't, my advice is to take everything with a grain of salt here.

I guess not everyone pays attention. If a post bothers you, you need to report it to a moderator. The mods are usually more than happy to snip offending posts and if it's that malicious in intent, people get banned.
Bringing up a random question in site discussion, while good for discussing future decisions for the site overall, isn't really going to solve the specific issue at hand.
It's a pity you have to learn the best way to handle things here the hard way. I understand if folks havne't been here a long time they may not know the best way to go about getting specific issues addressed.
