so why do mods close duplicate topics when the orginal has auto closed? it doesn't make sense to close one topic just because it has already been covered WHEN the original one is closed. so once a topic has closed there can never be another topic on that subject again?
http://www.prince.org/msg/7/203288 *closed for being a duplicate* the mod linked to http://www.prince.org/msg/7/196639/ a closed topic! [Edited 9/24/06 13:04pm]

but that is not excuse: if they are going to take the time to look up and post the orginal link and then close the topic why not take 3 more seconds and check to see if the orginal topic is still infact OPEN?

If the original one is closed or gets too ass long winded, then usually a Part 2 thread gets started with a link to the original. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! i think the problem here though is that we are locking a thread and redirecting folks to another thread that is "auto-locked"...thus folks can't discuss anything. Space for sale...

Yeah, I think in this case the new thread would have been okay, since the original has been closed due to time restrictions. We as mods (all of us) need to be sure that the thread we link orgers to is still an active thread, or let the thread they created (if new information is listed or being requested) hold up. In other words, we shouldn't be so quick to lock. Hey Orgers... like Teacher alluded to, we are only human afterall, and do make mistakes. |
