Here a little reaction to the consistent whining going on lately. I guess it is summertime and some people have to much time on their hands.

The Org is a privately owned site and the owners decide what happens to it. Ben and Mat have been doing a great job and I can understand the General Discussion Forum was more than they had bargained for.
To me, personally, in the beginning it was fun. I used to scroll the news items a lot before the 2.0 version hits the net, but it was the forums that drew me in and made me a Org junkie.

Also I can understand the irritation of many people about the silly topics flooding the Org. To me, many are funny and the ones that disturb me, I report to Ben and Mat. Fair is fair. I just LOVE to leave silly remarks to which others can react, provoke some people here and there. Basicly; have fun.
The shutting down of the GD Forum only made it worse, as silly posters will ignore the forum subject anyway and post their silly stuff in non topic threads. This was to be expected.
Like I said; I do not think Ben or Mat has realised what their site means to people and how the forums would take off and lead a life of their own. To me, it was addictive.

About the freedom of speech thing; that goes as far Ben and Mat let it go. They do not have time to moderate everything, so things are going to slip. This is where YOU can make a change; report abuse. Like I said in some threads; the Org’s what YOU make it.
Maybe Ben and Mat will let the GD forum go free and delete everything when it becomes too much to handle size wise. If you do not want to be shocked; do not go there. If you see something not worthy, something slimy; report. We can have the discussion about what is appropriate somewhere else. It’s the moderators call.

I hope the closing of the Org will not happen. Some say that it is a fact. I will take it for a fact when the site is down longer than a day or when Ben and Mat let us know. This is their child and even if children grow up I totally different than what you expect from them; it is still their child.
