Once banned always banned?

Let me start by saying I'm not trying to get anyone banned or rebanned. I think people should be allowed to discuss whatever. Let the marketplace of ideas sort it all out.

Still, I'm curious: When mods say they've banned someone for doing something incendiary (like baiting other people with threads about race or whatever) are their (often frequent) returns a violation of that original ban?

Or do mods take a wait-and-see approach when a banned orger conspicuously returns and starts up with the same kinds of threads that got them banned originally?

Honey-bunny, this has come up before and the Mods basically seem to say, "if you know of someone who's back, tell us, and we'll try to confirm it and then we'll ban them again". But then they also say, "sometimes there's no way of knowing for sure that it's the banned Orger, so we can't always just ban someone we suspect, but the banned Orger will probably get themselves in trouble again with their old behaviors and then we'll ban them again".

All paraphrasing, of course.

How'd I do, Mods? razz

There's levels of banned-ness. giggle

Depending on the violation, one might get an unexpected "break" from the Org, only to return within 1 to 14 days. Continuous violations or one gigantic violation could result in a "perma-ban".

Beware... we are watching you. eek

ya know...i wish we could differentiate between a ban and a suspension when altering folks...

also, i wonder, if someone is suspended does that mean that your profile and user data is removed until the suspension is over?

It does, in the orgnote. It (the phrase, that is) states they are banned for "x" amount of days. I think the meaning of "suspension" is there. It's implied.

Wow, moderators jacking a thread on banning.

lol

Banning/suspension is a gray azz area, just like everything else on this site. Adult avies and other pics, posts that are snipped, threads that are locked/deleted, orgers that get away with a whooooole lot of BS (such as the banned/returned orger that inspired this thread in the first place) ...it's often subjective to the mods own personal perspective.

Anyway, I don't rerally care. The org is my playground, not my platform. woot!

Which is my point exactly. lol And I just found out the orger in question is already gone until the next time he returns. Maybe somebody already reported it or maybe the orger deleted the account.
