When Prince.org 1st started?

When Prince.org first started and the PPML just sort of faded away, was there any info on the PPML that Prince.org was coming soon?

my understanding is that the ppml was integrated into the org..if memory services correctly, i was never part of ppml but after signing up to the org i would get the ppml emails.

why do you ask?

Actually, it's genesis was the PML (Prince Mailing List) maintained by Jon Brode.
I don't know when it started, but I was on the PML as early as 1988 or 89.

When Jon didn't want to do it anymore, he tried to find someone to take over, but couldn't find anybody that would agree to whatever 'demands' he had (not sure what those were).

Anyway, after that the PPML (Paisley Park Mailing List) was created, and from that came the org.

that doesnt answer his question though...he wants to know if folks were notified that ppml was shutting down...or it it pulled an NPGMC and just flammed out.
