Wow! I've been completely out of the loop for a number of weeks! I've been incredibly busy. It means a lot to me (even if it sounds quite silly) that I have your support. As strange as it may sound, the impact you have had on me has been real despite the medium being virtual. I appreciate all of the outpouring of love and support! I don't know how regularly I will be able to check the org for awhile. I still have not bought a computer (I should be getting one in the next few days) and the computer in my office is so ghetto that I can only read orgNotes from it- I can't check the threads at all.
Things here are shaping up really well. The training course for the TAs has been remarkably helpful, and I was assigned to teach the course I wanted- Calculus 1. I feel much more confident and comfortable about the premise of teaching now and I'm actually looking forward to it. My other classes (Stochastic Processes, Statistical Inference II and Linear Models) are all scheduled so that my first priority any day is at 11:50 AM. I also have Thursdays off, which is nice, because Wednesday turns out to be a big clubbing day around here. Last night, my housemate (who is a great guy) and I went to do some karaoke. Everyone was singing mellow, slow songs, but I got up there and busted out with "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry" much to the shock of the crowd. Apparently, people from neighboring buildings came over to see what the commotion was all about! Another funny story: I went dancing on Saturday in what is described as the most popular club in Salt Lake. Anyway, I'm doing my thing, and this girl named Cameo came up and started dancing with me. We were having a good time, and I left to get some water. I came back and found her, but as I was approaching her, she got into a fight with this other girl. Those around made room for them as the 2 girls were sprawled out on the ground, rolling around pulling hair and throwing punches! After the commotion cleared, I noticed a tooth on the ground where they had been! Cameo had asked me repeatedly to come back to the club the following Wednesday, but I kind of have a no fighting policy! Special thanks to my brother for coming out with me. It meant so much to have you there, Nathan. Being out West again and having your help made the transition much easier than it would have been. We grew closer this past year that we had ever been, and I know that it will not be lost with the distance. I thank God for the year that he gave us, with all of its ups and downs. I identify with you more than anyone else, and you really are my hero. I couldn't have made it this far without your input and your influence. I love you beyond what words can describe, and I look forward to visiting you again (and having you visit, of course!)

Today we had a boring campus-wide TA orientation. I start teaching in 2 days! I'm pretty excited about the whole thing now that the nerves have subsided. I'm sure they will resurface a bit once I'm actually in class, but coming here early and going through the math TA orientation has really helped a lot. I should be getting internet access at home this week, so I'll be able to respond to you all more frequently. Thanks for the continued support! It really HAS helped to convince me that I'm capable of undertaking this whole thing. I love you all.

I taught my first class! It went really well, and I wasn't nervous at all. About 5 people wanted to add my class after attending, so I'm guessing that's a good thing. 70 students will be a lot to handle, but I think I can do it. Thank you guys for your continued support.
