what is going to happen here in mpls

okay this is for those who live in mpls. dont get me wrong but you will understand once you read and maybe it is happening in your town. but i wanna know now that prince is married is that it for the parties that use to happen Friday nights? not saying that i did not get enough from the celebration. but maybe we have been spoiled here in MPLS. But why start a wonderful regular thing and then take it away ? we have not had a party in such a long time. i miss them i wonder if anyone else here feels the same. it feels as tho he is just like forget about the ones at home that have always been around. maybe we just like the jam of it all or just to see to say hey or show our love. i dont know maybe all good things do come to an end. please forgive me for the whinning but i miss the PARTIES.
HELP SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET OVER IT. MOVE ON. how sad i am a bonefied FAM.

I, too, am sooo sad at the lack of parties in recent times...

I don't blame it on the marriage, though, as he had thme ALL THE TIME when Mayte was around...

I keep my fingers crossed that he'll start 'em up again...

oh well, if not, it saves me lots of gas money! wink

Yeah, i feel the same way... I wish that he would have more! i moved up here last year and have only been able to go to 3 parties in the last year. I moved to Eden Prairie so i could be REAL close to Paisley and it really has been quiet!! This is the perfect time of year for them too!!

What are some of the highlights of the Prince gigs on Friday nights? What year did these start?

right there with you, i miss the late nite friday shows and even the dance parties were cool.

i am always hoping he will do some gigs in Mpls at First Ave, the Quest, or the Fineline, etc--to get some excitement going for the local sound or a new album.

1995 is when these began.
Poor party people, give the man a chance to rest. Geez.
It's only been a month since the Celebration and you people are already having withdrawls. Go play in a Lake or something.

I've been going regularly since 1993 there ringsakiddy and there were occasional performances held before then.

i also wish he'd start the parties up again. sad i wish he'd do like he did a few years ago and announce that, during the summer months, there would be a party every Friday night *unless* otherwise indicated on the website.

*sigh*

i'll just keep waiting and hoping that there'll be a party soon.

Did I hear you right? You moved to Eden Prarie so you could be closer to Paisley?. This is why the Fam thing was started. For fanatics like you. This isn't Jana is it. What a nut ball she is. You two should hang out.
The Celebration is over. Wait till next year. Believe me if I lived there, I would be wishing for more parties too. I'm sorry.wink Damn it Prince, Partyup already! Blame Canada. That's his home away from home now! I might move to Toronto.

I really miss the parties also guys. sad However, I DO NOT miss waiting in the freezing cold, or waiting for hours on end. Well, i guess if I had to, I would do it again...I have soo many times. BUT it would be nice if Mister Prince could have a partynight and not make us wait... and wait... and wait. smile Somewhat like how the Celebration was this year !! That was awesome, now just take what ya learned from that and apply it to a party every once in awhile wink yay!

This is not likely sir.

I'm smelling Superbowl this year as a Packers fan while the Vikings are at best hoping they can finish 8-8. This would actually be a pretty good record for them considering the sorry state that there defense is in. I don't think the Vikings defense is capable of crushing anyone paticularly Mr. Favre.

I wish he moved to N.Y.instead of Toronto and have some parties here. It sucks to have to wait so long. A month feels like an Eternity sometimes and months turn into Years. If he does do those parties again i hope he waits until I get up that way. I really can't stand missing him again. And by the way this morning I posted athread about him performing.

Some of my favorite parties were the late summer/fall after the 1st celebration. The parties when he'd sit at the soundboards for half the nite, sometimes sing back there, funk-up the noise, etc...

The best part of those nites was that all the stage-huggers would be totally unaware most of the time that P was hanging in the back of the room...

awww, those were the days...

sad

O well, we Mpls people have been more than blessed over the years, so I guess I'll just hold onto that for now!

Missing them too...

Even though I had to go out there like 17 times before I actually got in. OK, I would have gotten in, I just always got bored waiting around forever. And I almost got frost-bitten once...

And once I did get in I always had to work or do something lame early the next morning.

But I do miss them. smile

I lost my job here, so I was going to move to Mn
for a while and go to some of the parties.

Iam so disappointed about there not being any
parties.

I was afraid it would happen when he moved to
Toronto.

I do blame it on the marriage, she must have
him wrapped around her little finger, because
she got him to move to Toronto.

I had a fear that Mani, Larry and the JWs would
move Prince further away from the music and the
people and it seems like this is what's
happening.

Lovebird, let's not make this another Yoko Ono story...Prince makes his own decisions about where he lives, who are his friends, whether he decides to play live or not. The truth is, he is getting older, and likely more settled--maybe in Mpls, maybe in Canada-who knows?

Just like Lennon, don't hold anyone responsible for their actions but the person who does them, it's P's decision to play or not to play.
10-15 yrs ago, there wasn't a woman on Earth who could tear him away from live gigs and such. I think he's content to play less at Paisley, and devote time to the npgmc.

I'd like more late nite shows, but that's life, it changes.
