What was your reaction to the "Lovesexy Cover" thread the first time you saw it?

It came out about the same time Vanity posed nude for playboy. I thought that was very interesting. I thought prince looked sexy!

I'd love to see the outtake pics from this photo shoot. Supposedly Prince destroyed them, but he likes to keep a record of everything, so I think the Lovesexy photos could be in his vault at Paisley.

Prince had let his eyebrows grow wild!

I know I have a tiny b&W photo from a magazine of an alternate pose where he's looking at you.

Personally, I found him looking a bit skinny and too boy-like. It was a daring cover nonetheless.

My favorite Prince album/CD cover has to be Parade. Now that was both sexy and groovy.

A friend of mine used to use the cover (of the LP) as a dartboard. He's a big macho Italian/Polish beast of a guy, a drummer in a ska band I used to play in. I guess it threatened his masculinity a bit too much.
It was amazing! I came over to his house and there was Prince in the nude touching his nipple… impaled with deadly darts all through his body.

Another "controversial" album cover from around this time was Jane's Addiction's "Nothing Shocking." I worked at a stupid record store at the time and would see parents of small children turn the album around where it was displayed so their kids wouldn't see it.

This was also the time when the Dead Kennedy's had that law suite on them for the poster in the Frankenchrist album... and that whole thing.

Then there was the feminist uprising over the artwork in the Gun's & Roses album.

I thought that the album cover controversy was hilarious. I don't see how the cover could be controversial in Europe even at the time, but it doesn't surprise me that it was in Huhmerica. For a country that produces so much porn, it sure has an hard time with a little artistic nudity. John Ashcroft would have bought more curtains.
