What was your first reaction when you saw the album cover?

I was kinda in Shock, I was screaming and I had to get the Promo posters to hang up in my room. Remember the Controversy one ? Like my friends and I used to say to each other. He's So Beautiful.

Well, this should weed out the last of the homophobes.

I'm buying it anyway.

My reaction was what it always is when Prince pushed the envelope and shocked the world. I cheered. I laughed aloud. And I tohught, that is why I love that little guy - always someting no one else would have the guts to do and always done up to the edge without going over the top. That is how he has stayed around for all these years. It is like Kurt Loder said in Props in Pounds: "He knows when to stop...usually"

My friend asked me what i wanted for my 14th birthday and i said the new Prince album i did not know what the cover was at the time. Anyhow the next time i saw him he threw £10 at me and said "Get that fucker yourself, there is no way im picking that up, people will think im gay!" When i did go to buy it myself i laughed my ass off and the woman at the counter said i had a nerve buying it with a cover like that. Needless to say i got teased at school about it.."he bought that album with the gay cover!"

I didn't think it was that big a deal. Although having my parents see it did cause a little embarrasment. I had one of the promo posters up but it was just a close-up of just his hand from the fron cover photo.
I read that he had all the other negatives from that photo shoot destroyed so there's apparently no chance of seeing any outtakes.

The Supreme Commander purchased this audio transport device for Captain DaddyMan.

Being in the Air Force at this time and as always secure in his manhood, he simply didn't even care about the cover.

But after realizing that this was a single tracked audio transport device he went into a whole new orbit of pisstivity.

It is often said, amongst the troops that were present during the discovery of this fact, that the Captain shouted with the ferocity of man gone mad, "ALL HELL SHALL RAIN DOWN UPON THE LITTLE PURPLE MAN IF HE MAKES ONE MORE F&*$ING SINGLE TRACKED AUDIO TRANSPORT DEVICE!!!"

Now ask yourself, is it just coincidence that the little man hasn't made anymore single tracked CD's.

I think that I was a little surprised, but not shocked like some people were. I remeber that some record stores would not put it on the shelves because some stores I guess thought it was "obscene". After all, it was a "Prince" album, and all that guy ever sings about is sex (or so most people think), so I guess seeing him bare made people assume the worst.

But when I first listened to the album, I immediately knew what the whole nude photo represented. He was saying to the world that just like a baby, "I AM BORN AGAIN".

I thought he looked a little too...precious...at the time Too delicate...

I was trying to check if it was a 3D kind of cover
