dont sweat ya'll-the orgs my boy but compared to the housequake team it is extremly poor-news in always too late-no vids,very cheap looking compared to HQ(very cheap!!) etc

One shouldn't lose sight of the fact that HQ is a website, and we are (essentially) a message boards forum.

We try our best with what we have at our disposal.

I guess we just don't live, breathe, eat, sleep Prince like I suspect some of those folks do. We get a lot more posts than HQ (or any other Prince fan message board) does, and just moderating the massive number of posts is a lot of work for the *volunteer* moderators. Perhaps the funds raised by HQ's requests for donations helps encourage them to create cool stuff for the users. I kind of doubt it, because the amount of work it takes to run a decent site is SO great, a few bucks here and there definitely doesn't make a lot of difference. And to be clear, I don't think the donations are a bad thing, I even donated to them myself; I just won't ever do it here, for various reasons.

I guess also, I don't personally put the effort into making the org more "fancy", spending time to make videos etc., because I'm just not that into Prince anymore. I like his music and always will, but I'm not the huge fan I once was. I stopped collecting stuff, I don't listen to the new stuff terribly much either. He's still da man, but I'm not the same fan. Basically, any "spare" time I have from my pretty intense job, I spend with my wife and kid, or my side projects, or just relaxing--the org is pretty low on the priority list, I'm afraid. If the tireless moderators weren't here, I don't honestly know if the site would even exist anymore. I've been doing this for nearly 10 years, starting with the PPML. That's a long time. Prince has changed. I've changed. The attitude of a lot of fans has changed. More than anything, priorities have changed. And that's reflected in the site, no doubt.

Ben, it concerns me about something you said..that if it weren't for the moderators, this place would fall by the wayside. Why not ask for help then?
I understand completely about having other priorities, especially family. Certainly there's an orger who would take over your responsibilities Ben...why not ask?

well for all the fancyness i much prefer the org!

I never really thought about it much. I only really go to HQ for the videos. A fancy design doesn't do much to impress me.

I don't think the org is crap at all. I actually think it's easier to navigate and I like the aesthetics of it better than both HQ & NPG... And it has better emoticons!

Each site (HQ, .org & even NPG) has it's own good qualities...I use each of them for different things...

I can understand your position Ben, but was wondering are you the only one who works on the code? If not, who else does? I would be interested to help on the code side if you'd like (I'm not interested in adding a bunch of bloat - I like the simpleness of the interface - but would like to do things of value like a real search function).
