 In fact, it's the name I generally go by--for the most part, I only use Matthew for "official business," such as when I'm doing something in my capacity as an attorney, entering into a contract, opening a bank account, etc.
Also: 1) I figured that if I didn't claim the name, someone else would--it seems that Matthew/Matt became a common first name in the 1970s and remains that way today. 2) Most (if not all) of the prince.org Staff uses their "everyday" name, so I figured I'd do the same. One interesting thing is that some people at work have thought that "Matt" is my legal first name--never mind that the diplomas and whatnot on my office wall say "Matthew," my letterhead and business cards say "Matthew," and my name on our office door says "Matthew." I always tip restaurant servers and pizza delivery drivers at least 20%, unless they've done something to deserve having their tip docked. And since I've worked in restaurants and delivered pizza, I can usually tell when a problem is the fault of the kitchen and not the server. I also tip haircutters, restroom attendants, bartenders, etc. I've been in their shoes, and it's never nice to get "stiffed." My name was chosen for me by another Prince fan when I first went online with AOL. I'd been complaining that I didn't have a Princely sounding nickname, and I was thinking of 'The Max' as my name is Maxine. She first came up with 'Igo2theMax' but the name was taken at AOL, so Igo2DaMax became the one!
