Browsing the Org safely at work...

I have coworkers coming in and out of my office all day at work, not to mention walking past my door. The loud purplish pink colors on the site are kind of a dead giveaway, even at a distance, that I'm doing something other than work, LOL.

Below are a couple of tips to make surfing the Org less obvious, in case you are having the same problem. If any of you have any other techniques please feel fre to share them here.

Ghostzilla

http://www.ghostzilla.com/

Doesn't look like a standard web browser, it actually blends into whatever program you are using. Also, it converts the whole web page into a greyscale color scheme and hides all images unless you roll your mouse over them. You can instantly make the browser vanish my dragging your pointer outside the frame of it. Then make it reappear by draging your mouse to the left and right sides of the screen rapidly.

Pretty slick overall, but it's based on a really old version of Mozilla, so it's missing alot of the security updates. But it's fine for browsing the Org.

Firefox with WebDeveloper extension

If you use Firefox, you can get a similar effect with the Web Developer extension added on to it.

https://addons.mozilla.or...on=firefox

Once installed, you should see a new Toolbar appear in your browser. You just need to change two settings. From the "Disable" menu, select "Disable Page Colors", and from the "Images" menu choose "Disable Images > All Images". There's some other options under the Images menu, such as "make images invisible", however they only work on the current page you are on. The "Disable Images" option, lasts the entire time.

Firefox with Stylish extension

There's another new extension for Firefox called Stylish, that (theoretically) you can use to override various CSS styles on the Org. I tried it out, but could not get it to work properly. It would only work for the current page I was on, then as soon as I browsed to another page, the old styles would come back. Perhaps this is just a bug that will be fixed with future updates to the extension.
