Yes, I was going to suggest that too; but then I just changed my post limit to 200/page and so far every thread I've visited can fit on one page. But I still think the gray bars have got to go... Here's my idea for the "Reply" bar:
Click the link for a bigger picture. 
I changed the color to "Lavender" and made it a set length. I probably should have used something like 20% or something. Another option would be to change the color to Grey 45% or maybe even down into 25-35% Anything too light will kill the eyes because of the white font. The grey bars look funny but are a non-issue. It's the seperating the threads into pages that bugs me. One thing I loved about the Org was that a thread could be scrolled through in it's entirety instead of having to click for god knows how many pages. Like has been pointed out, a lot of people skip over the thread and just click on the last page to post. I know this because I just did it. I don't know. I don't get one on either of my machines. I have a good pop-up blocker on one and Firefox's pop-up stopper on the other. Neither one are reporting any pop-ups.

i like on one long page.. ok people but just go to "my org" - "forums" - "page thresholds" and change it to 50, 100... whatever. that way most threads will still show up as one page and just the big assed ones will be divided. trust me! it makes them load a lot easier!
