I never post in site discussion, but I came in here to say I love the stickies for each song/video/performance/art etc. - and I like that there's a separate one for Black Sweat song, Black Sweat single art, Black Sweat video and Black Sweat 'logistics' - it makes the dicussions more focused and easier to follow.

I would love, when the album comes out, to have separate "official" stickies for each individual song, as well as one for the album art, one for promotions etc. - while also allowing some space for discussions that purposefully discuss more than one of those items.

Cool! thumbs up! Thanks for your feedback. Yeah I think other mods would agree that by allowing the odd thread to fly free that overall it's seemed to have worked - I liked the idea of breaking the stickys down into more topic-specific threads, it's really allowed discussion to breathe a little mo' betta mr.green

Definately something you'll be seeing more of when major new breaks wink

co-sign.

I think this is the first time I've ever visited the site discussion board in the nearly four years I've been around here. The stickies are great -- easy to visit one place and see all comments. Loading times, smoading times. Get broadband and quit bitching.

Whatever! I have 5mb/256kb Cable Modem and the stickys STILL take a long time to load.

Wanna know how I get around it now:

I turn off pictures.

I love the Maxthon shell browser for IE.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

There is a chance you may need a new ISP then...

Amen.

I have mixed feelings about the ways stickies are used, and I think there's no great answer. I think the mods are trying hard to strike a balance on this one.

But it makes me nuts when I post a thread, get a few replies, and then it vanishes. I often wish I could at least have had a chance to archive the thread. We've lost some awesome comedy that way. smile

the information is lost now in long old threads, I usually only read fresh new ones... so with this new system of locking threads, the org is much less informative to me right now.

the content of the thread isn't exactly the point here--if there's already ONE thread about something that's up, then it is pointless to start up a separate thread about the exact same thing. that's what this particular discussion's about.

everytime there is a big Prince event where there are lots of posts the mods are told to make everybody post on one big thread which in my opinion is crazy..

What did that bald fitness lady say? "STOP THE INSANITY"? Well, OK. I finally got around to adding real pagination to the threads. Enjoy smile

Oh, and note that (at least on windows Firefox--might be different on other browsers and OSes), you can use "alt-n" and "alt-p" to go to the next/previous page of posts, respectively. (On Windows Internet Explorer, it seems you need to hit 'enter' after pressing alt-n or alt-p.)

bow

That may help me adjust to this change a bit.

lol I have a feeling there's still A LOT I have to learn about Firefox. That being said, I SO prefer it to IE. I'm sooo happy my tech geek friend forced me to switch. nod

Actually, that's not quite a Firefox "thing", it's a HTML thing that Firefox just happens to do better than other browsers smile

But yeah, personally, I find Firefox to be so incredibly much better than IE, it's sick. Even IE7 doesn't touch firefox. Now if only the Mac version of firefox was faster, that'd make me SUPER happy!

But really, if you're not using Firefox, with tabbed browsing, addons like the ad-blocking, yahoo toolbar, page capture, etc., etc., you're not experiencing the web. It does kick ass. And if you're a web developer, you're really shooting yourself in the foot by not using it!
