Multiple Event alerts

This is the second time this has happened to me. I am signed up for alerts whenever an event/concert takes place near me but then I get dozens of emails a day sent to my email account. I had 60 of the exact same message today reminding me about the Morris Day & the Time concert in Brooklyn this Saturday.

I deleted my option to have reminders sent so I don't keep getting them all week, but why does this happen and can it be fixed?
