do sticky threads remain on the .org forever like the other threads? what make sticky's so different? why are they called sticky?

Making a thread a "Sticky" just causes it to remain at the top of the forum, and gives it a new icon. We sometimes do this for threads that are popular/important, especially when there's alot of discussion going on about one particular subject, like the release of a new Prince album. Instead of having 20 seperate threads about the same thing, we create a sticky and direct everyone to it. We remove their "Sticky" status after a while as well, when the particular event or topic of discussion has expired, to make way for new stickies, etc...

Watch what will happen if you ever question why a particular post is a sticky - you post will just magically vanish. Poof it will just be gone. Happened to me today.
So never never never question the mods.
