Think before you post!

Hey all, I think we need to proove to Ben & the other staff that we are responsible enough to deserve a General Disscussion forum.

Think before you post. Ben is hardly gonna open GD again if he is continually required to delete stupid threads from other 'on topic' forums. The last few weeks, we have had racist posts, posts about sex & one person even decided to post a previously locked thread all over again. All in the Prince forum. Why post it if you know Ben will have to delete it, it wastes his time & yours & certainly doesnt help our General Discussion situation.

I know we all miss General Discussion, I do too, but we must respect Ben's descission & convince him that the re-opening of GD will be a success.

God bless

Lewis

PS. Sorry to be so general with this post. There are many of you who are not invloved in this at all. You know who you are wink

Finally, someone with a brain. But the thing is, folks will think that the GD forum is just that, a 'general' forum. They will forget they are on a Prince site and the threads should be geared towards general topics about Prince.

Leave the GD closed. It's not needed. There are other sites to talk about sex and politics.

Following this advice will surely be the final nail in the Org's coffin.

Really, there would be no posts at ALL.

The internet isn't for thinking. Neither is Prince. I hardly think marrying the two together would warrant thought before expressing an opinion.

nuts

I agree. I think the expectation on the part of the moderators that people will exercise a degree of responsibility in return for the freedom to post within the terms of service, and the focus of a specific discussion forum, is entirely realistic and reasonable (despite 2the9s well thought out contribution).

I love Price.org the way it is now. In my opinion, Ben is already tolerating a certain amount of GD within reason and is giving everything the appropriate amount of descretion. Anything more than what he is currently allowing, and I think this site will easily slip back into a place where Prince fans come to talk about everything BUT Prince related issues. So if someone needs more general discussion than what's already being allowed, I agree with those who say go to AOL, Yahoo, or wherever... but I say do whatever it takes to keep the "prince" in Prince.org.

Don't give in Ben!

I miss GD, but I didnt say, 'Ben should allow the same thing to happen again'. I believe that GD is necessary but not in the way that it was. Maybe an 'Other Stuff' forum would be cool. Doesnt exactly warrent the previous events but does provide a place for you to post off topic posts (within reason) without them being deleted.

I guess I am trying to incite a lessening of stupid posts rather than a re-opening of GD. After all, isnt that why it was closed in the first place.

I'd also like to suggest to Ben & staff that maybe another feedback form (like the one you put up when the site was upgrading) to collect mass opinion of the sites future.

God bless

Wouldn't it be wonderful? But imho, once the GD is opened up again, and there was always a tacit understanding that it would open again at some point, there will be total mayhem. There will be a stampede of silliness like the Org hasn't seen in weeks. Folks are going to risk carpal tunnel trying to see who can submit the most and/or dumbest posts the quickest.

thecloud9mission, you make complete sense. But those who post stupidity will not be persuaded into seeing the sense of your argument. Unfortunately, we are living in the age of the "Jerry Springer" mentality. Folks don't know how to or (too often) care to try to think anymore. It's all about saying something to get people stirred up. Hey, what's the point of actual rhetoric when the "double F-you finger" icon can express the emptiness of one's head so eloquently?

I ran a yahoo group for my music. To which many orgers subscribed. I closed it down after Yahoo went bankrupt & sent out loads of Spam mail. I too recieved the same spam mate. Also, messages addressed to me in the group were sent out to everyone for no apparent reason. The group is shutdown & I do not send spam.
