This massive Shausler-initiated baloney goin on at the mo is one of the biggest coups in .Org history in my opinion! For now, the tranquil calm has been whipped up into an uncomfortable frenzy.

People are griping left, right and centre about their right to say whatever they want and are worried a harsher moderator stance might destroy the expansive Prince.org community that has beautifully blossomed here.

I might have a solution that would please everyone. The creation of a 'Random thoughts' thread (better name pending) would allow the Shausler-style fun and frolics to continue. This new wacky thread would not appear in the newest/most active topics section on the main page, so it would not clog up the works with crap. But if people want to post random poems or whatever, the opportunity would still be there. The community would then still be free to be silly and wacky, whilst Prince-related 'constructive' discourse would not be obscured, as it arguably is at the mo.

I think Ben and Matt are doing a fantastic job, but I think they should appreciate that Prince.org has become more than just being about Prince. I see no reason why they shouldn't embrace it - provided they can partition off the 'wacky' stuff from the not-so-wacky stuff. My new thread might allow this.

Potential problems (yes, this new thread does raise many)
1. How to differentiate between the General Discussion thread and this one.
Maybe the answer would be that anything that Matt/Ben would delete under the new stricter rules would be the yardstick to use.
2. How to stop people using this to go too far.
People would still be subject to the user agreements, so racism, etc. would still not be permitted.

What do y'all think? I'm not saying this is the way, but I'd appreciate your ideas nonetheless...

I agree with retitling General Discussion to something else as suggested. I also think that a discussion forum should be created for Prince - non-music.

That way, people could discuss Prince's spiritual leanings, or whatever - so long as it has an obvious, and clearly stated Prince connection at the outset which people are asked to continue to discuss e.g. 'What do you all think about Prince's position on radio ownership?'.

If people just want to discuss the truth according to Jehovah's Witnesses, or how paedophiles are treated by the Catholic church, or whatever, then they go to the 'Other Issues' forum - or whatever it is to be called.

There should eb two forums on this site:

1) Bollox

2) Utter Bollox

I've suggsted the "Feud Forum" or the "Pissing Contest" forum. Initially, it was joke, but I'm starting to think it was a good idea. This way the kids can go scrap and the rest of us can ignore it completely. Granted, I usually do this anyhow.
