BTW, my standard advice for anyone considering a career in the law: get a job at a law firm, even if it's being the messenger or the photocopy clerk, so you can see for yourself what it's really like. It's not nearly as glamorous as TV makes it appear. A reality TV show about a lawyer, if there were such a thing, might show him or her sitting for hours at a desk, doing research in Westlaw or LexisNexis.

Don't get me wrong--I enjoy what I do. But I don't think it's for everyone, and I suspect the high rate of career dissatisfaction among lawyers has to do with people getting into it for a bad reason (e.g., they think it's an easy way to make a lot of money, or their undergraduate degree is in the liberal arts and they want something to make them more "marketable").
