No, you don't. The prince.org email server is currently down. --The Mod Formerly Known as matt@prince.org P.S.--I'm using a temporary email address for prince.org business until .org email is restored. Please check my profile if you need to email me. Thanks! Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Matt, it really isn't down... although the mod maillist seems to be. Your personal mail thru the org should be working fine (mine is). Drop me another mail about it and we can discuss further. ben -- "the prince.org guy" |

I've discussed my desire for a prince.org email address in the past, and what I seem to get from the powers that be is that as soon as they let us give them money, we have a right to expect something, and we are enough of a pain in the arse as freeloaders. . . can you imagine if we were paying customers? IMPOSSIBLE!

Just speaking for myself here, and not in my capacity as an .org staff member... but what would happen if Ben went on vacation and the mail server crashed? People generally want their email to have as little downtime as possible--especially, as you suggest, if they're paying for it. We'd need at least one backup mail admin. I don't know about our other staff members, but I know very little about how to run a mail server. Okay, back in college I had a little Windows-based mail server with maybe five accounts, and all of them were mine... "postmaster," "admin," "webmaster," "abuse," etc. But running a prince.org email service would involve considerably more knowledge. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

I let our host install them, but adding and removing accounts, changing settings on the accounts, etc, is a piece of cake through Qmails admin section. Horde is like a webmail interface, so you could access your mail though your browser much like Yahoo or Hotmail, it's also really easy to use, but I heard its a nightmare to install.
