Lately I've been noticing that threads that criticize Prince get locked like crazy around here and people who post criticism are even bashed upon by the mods (I won't mention specific names).

So what's the deal? Is this a process leading into creating another NPGMC or housequake.com, where everyone has to kiss Prince's ass?

May goodness forbid.

But what led me to craete this thread was when I made a thread about how if Billy Idol can still be raw and rock out at the age of 50, then there's no reason why Prince can't. So It was locked and I was accused of being "whiny."

Then when I made a thread about Billy Idol, it became a comparison between him and Prince again, and that thread got locked.

And when I tried to discuss the issue with the mod, I got absolutely no response.

So I'm starting to think this site is becoming sterile and the only Prince threads that can survive are the ones that aren't critical of him. It seems debating in the Prince forum is not welcome.

I guess we all just have to be good boys and girls from now on.

but im gonna say this, if you cant spend half a minute typing an understandable explenation (via orgnote) to the actions you have taken you dont deserve to be a mod...

and if you cant respond to inquiries such as this (and not even in public but via orgnote) the you dont deserve to be a mod....

sometimes i get the impression we as mods are "looking" for something to moderate...so we fish for something to do.....i hope this isnt the case.....

and if there is something that needs to be done, but you dont wanna waste your time sending an orgnoted message or at lease giving an explenation within the locked thread then dont take action and let the next mod who logs on take care of the matter...

that last option i do a lot.....say, there is a user that just annoys the hell out of me..and someone has reported the issue..I just let the mod request stay so that nikster and danza can look at the issue without my biases at play....

the next time i log on, walla the issue has been managed....

blah, blah, blah, mods suck and the only ass I'm gonna kiss belongs to EWM!

I can stand people that sugarcoat their statements or feelings.

I believe in the power of free speech (being from The Dirty South, USA). And I telling you as a concern friend that we should have that right to say exactly what's on your mind.

We're not promise to have any fans based upon the things we say. But there should be a level of respect for being honest.

There may be other reasons why the thread was locked or removed. Maybe it was considered flame bait. Maybe it was a redundant thread. Maybe it was something offensive or inappropriate. Any which way, that should have already been explained to you in an orgnote, if it was your thread. If you didn't start the thread, then you wouldn't have recieved the explanation from the mod.

I agree with taking the time to write an explanation to an orger... to a certain point. If somebody does something that's blatantly against forum rules, especially if they have a history of causing trouble on here, what is the point of re-stating the obvious?

I really don't have the impression that any of the mods are Prince brown-nosers, I'm sure as hell not.

The problem is that this site is not a democracy. Whatever Ben and the mods say, goes. There doesn't have to be a good reason for why these things happen. If a mod wants to delete a thread just because she has a personal problem with it, then that's that. We get no vote on the issue.

That's easy to agree to since i don't see anything to criticize Prince for.

He can do whatever he wants and he still is the most versatile and talented artist alive.
