I'll tell you flat out that I don't kiss anyones ass. And I personally have no respect for professional/personal asskissers or snitches!!!

I don't like rats. And I hate roaches far worse!
mad smile

I can stand people that sugarcoat their statements or feelings.

I believe in the power of free speech (being from The Dirty South, USA). And I telling you as a concern friend that we should have that right to say exactly what's on your mind.

We're not promise to have any fans based upon the things we say. But there should be a level of respect for being honest.

Am I wrong?
cool

The problem is that this site is not a democracy. Whatever Ben and the mods say, goes. There doesn't have to be a good reason for why these things happen. If a mod wants to delete a thread just because she has a personal problem with it, then that's that. We get no vote on the issue.

So does that Prince vs. Billy Idol thread still exist or has it been blocked/deleted? I need to read it myself & draw my own conclusion.

And what in the hell was said that really gotten that thread to ended so soon?

BTW, you can PM me if you want to play it safe!

Ok, I overlooked an earlier comment in this thread where EWM points out the Billy Idol thread is what he is irritated about. But if this is a single incident between you and one mod, is it fair to make comments like "threads that criticize Prince get locked like crazy around here and people who post criticism are even bashed upon by the mods"?

Point out some of these other threads so we can see what you're referring to.

it does happen Tom...

heres my take on the Prince: Music & More Forum..I storta consider myself a n00b when it comes to that forum...

i've noticed gossip threads get locked...i've noticed silly threads get locked...and ive noticed supposed oft-repeated threads get locked...and i've noticed fake album release and track list threads get locked...

now, for the life of me i dont understand why gossip threads and fake album threads are locked....dont fellow orgers police these threads by posting "its a fake"? so whats the harm in them? in the past (the good ole black and purple days) i remember these threads being a lot of fun...ditto the gossip threads..interesting enough,

i can understand silly threads being locked to an extent....

and i just dont get the issue over supposed oft-repeated threads getting locked...sure sure, we now have an updated FAQ thread for people to review...however, i dont see the Prince: Music & More Forum being around for org-lifers....most of the regular folks get tired and move on to other forums because once you reach the saturation point info on prince you get bored of it..however, there is always a flux of n00bs....ironically this has been a defense used by mods who support heavy handed moderation (well, fuck em...there are always new people joining who will understand me seems to be the battle cry)...well, then if their are always n00bs around then we should allow repeated threads so that they may learn the information that you yourself once learned...interesting enough, there was a thread created a few weeks back about something or another in regards to Prince.....well, the first five or six posts were from org-lifers bitching because the thread was often repeated....but the posts that followered were from newbies all saying they werent aware of the info...the thread *then* turned into a pretty good and in-depth discussion about the subject...i wish i could remember the thread and post it for people to review....at the time i read the thread i even considered posting about it within this forum but decided against it cause i didnt want to beat a dead horse.

now, as far as criticizing prince? i saw the second billy idol thread that EWM created in the Music: Non-Prince forum and well....it wasnt locked there and it recieved quit a bit of traffic...so...take that for what it is...

just a lil sidenote: before a particular person comes along and spews personal vitrial about my moderation please note that this forum is not for personal attacks....agree to disagree with my views and either express your take on the issue or..

Nope. And I don't think I ever will.

Like I posted before it's all about lock and finger

I just have to accept the fact that we can no longer make threads that criticize Prince. Either kiss ass or kiss off.

My request was to point out examples where threads that criticize Prince get unreasonably locked, and mods bash on the orgers for starting them. Not about fake track lists, redundant threads, phony gossip, etc... But with regards to those...

That's common "netiquette" to look for an answer to your question on a forum, before posting a new thread about it. Our own forum rules even state "Don't create new threads when an existing one will do. Don't create 'nonsense' threads."

Prince.org has been, for the past several years, a great spot to find news on Prince, and talk about his music. I'll just speak for myself on this, though I don't feel I'm alone in this opinion, the fake gossip and the phony track lists are irritating. When it's an obvious parody or something like that, it's one thing, but how many times do we get delusional orgers trying to pretend like they have insider information on Prince and his upcoming albums?... If anything, it makes the site less reliable for real news IMO, and more like a worthless tabliod.

I know from past threads, the "n00b" issue is someting that has irked you (hence this thread getting steered in that direction). But if someone new is coming to the site, and joining in on ongoing discussions, my personal opinion based on what I've seen on many other forums is its their responsibility to scope out the place first, read the site rules, read through some threads first, skim through the FAQ, etc...

and all that up there is just my personal take on that forum..other can disagree...im okay with that..

It had to do with my observation that at the age of 50, Billy Idol can still look cool acting young, so the argument that Prince is too old is ridiculous. I don't think that was redundant at all.

Look cool acting young? hmmm I'll say this much....Prince doesn't have to look or act cool or young that's ridiculous. He acts mature and still looks young which is the desire of many people his age. His confidence speaks for itself. His success, fashion, music, style, accomplishments and achievements not only prove that he is neither dull or boring but appeals to more people than ever before.. The only thing it seems he is too old to do is the splits lately otherwise he rocks harder than Billy Idol and he ain't even 50 yet! Constructive criticism is always necessary as long as the critic shows the positives and negatives of what they are criticizing.

The title of this thread and content is heperbole. As if there is a crackdown on criticism of Prince.

For someone who whined about petty bitching from left-wingers, EWM sure did a lot of it himself.

EWM is always feeling persecuted and whining about it and making a post about it here.
