MJ threads. Enough is enough?

I know it has been said before, but have the volume of Michael Jackson threads now gone beyond a joke? As of an hour ago, they made up 20% of the first two pages of threads.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an MJ fan, but if I wanted to talk about MJ all the time, I'd go to an MJ site. Not a Prince site.

I for one used to love the non-prince music thread, but I hardly go there now because it seems to have been taken over by a few MJ nuts. Its the same few, starting all the threads. They already have one sticky, but still insist on starting new threads. A lot of the good debators have already deserted this forum.

Look at what threads we have today...

Jackson In Court X
THriller and Purple Rain Aside, who whould be bigger
MJ is a far superior vocalist to prince
MJ Will tour after the trial
Lets get this straight once and for all
U know you are a NJ fan if....
Whats your favourite Jackson 5 song
Ultra rare 1979 MJ commercial
Is MJ jealous of prince
Off The Wall survivor thread
MJ suzuki commercial
Can you imagine MJ with corn rows
Jackson to lose Beegels calalog

Come on mods. I like MJ beging discussed too, but the current actions are killing the forum. Can we not simply have an "Everything Jacksons" sticky and get the forum back to discussing non prince music rather than imagining MJ with corn rows?

With a sticky, everyone gets what they want. MJ fans have a place to debate or worship, and the general public don't have to suffer thread after thread of endless drivel.

eek sad
totally disagree wit ya on this one ! ... i think that the "stickys " ruin the org ... many a time people are havin a good conversation about some facet of the trial ... or MJ ... or whatever the topic .... and the thread gets stuck with some other thread that has 350 messages ---- and takes minutes to load ... and that is when it ends for me !!! confused

Make a fucking Michael Jackson forum. I swear we've had threads centered around his toenail fungus and what his favorite color is. I stopped commenting on them long, long ago. Music: Non-Prince has changed a lot since I first started lurking on the boards. There used to be a lot of orgers who would discuss a wide variety of artists, and many of them are still there, but increasingly they're being drowned out by an endless barrage of Michael, Madonna, Kylie, and Janet threads. If we declared a moratorium on those artists (and on the "_____ vs. Prince" threads), I wonder if people would know what to do in that forum anymore.

Blah! Just ignore the threads.

Also, if the MJ topics were all removed that forum would be dead. smile

I do ignore them. But it's paradoxical because there's not much left in the forum. That's not how it used to be.

Seriously, let's have a forum for anything about homosexuality, all other sexual jokes, pics, etc., any and all types of Top Ten threads, post your picture yet a-fucking-gain, racism, "I'm listening to these songs",Althom, Prince, and MJ...then everything will be cool here and we'll know which forums and threads to visit.

That forum has changed a lot. A number of heavy-posting Orgers with very diverse taste have moved on to other things and rarely post now. I have (mostly) stopped creating threads in that forum because they sink almost instantly (unless they are about the above mentioned artists).

but, whatevs, people can have whatever kinda non-P fun they wanna in that forum. It just isn't working well for ME these days...

Agree. I was introduced to a lot of wonderful music by obscure artists thanks to that forum. People like theAudience don't have as much incentive to post, anymore sad. And Cloudbuster, what happens if you start a thread but there's no one to respond to it? That's pretty much the state of that forum.

I think everyone who posted above should agree to not participate on those threads (even though it is easy to), or only participate on the sticky.

I agree, there is too much Michael Jackson discussion. It's okay to start a thread when there is actually some legitmate news to report (such as "Michael Jackson announces a 10-month world tour" or "Michael Jackson enters the studio with Quincy Jones").But the only real "news" concerning MJ these days is his trial, and there is already a sticky for that.Don't get me wrong,I am a fan but enough is enough.I'm a huge Madonna fan,but I don't start a new thread about her unless there is some real news to discuss (such as info on a new album). The MJ fans on this site need to show some restraint.

bullshit, I started an "all we do is spark mad izm" thread and it died. Black Flag thread and it died. This forum and site attracts a certain music fan.

Pop, dance and r&b rule on that forum. Are we only addressing this cause it's MJ, if it was the velvet underground or sly stone would we be so quick to close it.

If people wanna post meaningful topics about Michael, let them. all that SquirrelMeat mentioned should be fine to post.

Trust me, that's not the way it was 2 years ago. There would have been users to reply to your thread then, but they've all left. Whatever, though, the forum's wasting away.

Maybe. I feel left out with alot of artists I like. As Iam sure that kevin bloke does who is on here. U know, he is a country fan and I bet he feels pretty bad that hardly anyone responds to his threads.

But I've had a good run though. Yet I seemed to be the only ones starting joey or jeremy jordan threads though, which explains that

a) No one listens to them anymore (or ever did)
b) No one gives a shit.

Few do reply though. Which is great. I find the people on here very open minded. No one really has a go at me ever.

As for MJ. He is very interesting, but too much of anything is overkill and annoying.

Sorry, that's a ridiculous statement.

Anyway, the forum has changed over the past several years, for the worse. It's not MJ per se, just a constant litany of nonsense threads.
