no, i've just always been alternately amused, baffled and befuddled that there are people who come to this site only to talk about politics. there are some people, when you look at their profiles, that don't post in any other forum. myself, i don't post in the Prince forum much, sticking mainly to the Music: Non-Prince forum. which some might find strange. however, as this is a musician-dedicated site, and just about every single thing that ever can be said about Prince HAS been said on it about 500 times in the last 9 years, it seems a more natural fit. but to come to this site to discuss politics and religion? surely there are better places on the internet to do that. but perhaps that's the problem: these people would be eaten alive on a site that was dedicated to those subjects, so they stay here where they can appear to be thoughtful, expert talking heads fighting for this cause or that, or blowing off steam over the outrage of the week without getting their asses handed to them by people who actually know what they're talking about on a site dedicated to politics and religion.

I don't know if U were here when it was altogether...but any time something serious was introduced, the GD-ers turned it into sattire.
That was fun sometimes, but sometimes it was quite offensive.
So many complaints that a pole was taken, if I reacall..and the P&R forum was created.

sad poor Polish person.

i vote he or she should be given back to Poland. nod

you raise a very valid point.....as a mod, it baffles me too...usually these are people who have a political or religious agenda. they either feel that this site is too pro-JW or too pro-liberal and that its being used for propoganda purposes.....

i'd say just the opposite. people's beliefs and ideals are rarely very interesting. and they try to obscure this fact by proclaiming them loudly and often.

seek out the threads that mach creates...they rarely ever create debates and you might learn something new about other cultures.

like who knew there was a demon god that anally rapes you at night? and the only way to not get pounded is to believe in it...

it means your mind expands - what you poorly lock, hide or confuse as flaming is a passionate heated debate in European terms "coffee house debate" nothing is learned until all the more sensitive matters are thrown out into the open.

until then, this forum is indeed a farce.

would it surpise you to know that i have not locked or hidden a thread in the p&r forum in ages?

and do you really think people are willing to expand their minds? within the p&r forum? i think we all had those hopes when the forum was first created...however, the p&r forum has turned into a soapbox derby.....with people spewing their own perspectives without even considering others views....

so, in order to keep things from getting out of control we require that people maintain a level of civility and respect for others beliefs...

and thats all.....

what? because there isnt an equal amount of conservative threads created? or equal amounts of conservatives responding to the liberal view that is the majority here on this site?

well....sorry, thats gonna happen when your on a site dedicated to a black man who used to walk around in his underwear....

if you want a forum with a more conservative tilt then visit www.tobykeith.org.

I see.Very civil. Very respectful.Who said anything about conservatives?
I was talking about people who jump to all kinds of conclusions whenever someone posts a veiw that differs from your "liberal majority".As you are very aware, it is possible to have a discussion without resorting to name-calling and lables ...however not in that forum.

...and BTW, I hate Toby Keith. razz
