hi tom. literally, i've installed / changed nothing at all. i could see the avatars pre-the org going down a couple of days ago, and now it's just 'red x' city.  | |

For what it's worth, this is what fixed it for me when I had this problem a few months ago. Keep in mind, you have to reboot for the changes to kick in, after you edit the registry.
Finally!!! I found the solution to this annoying problem!!! I have yet to see a single broken image since I deleted these keys.
Do you ever notice that sometimes certain images don't load on certain web pages...mainly forums? Well, this problem started for me quite some time ago, and I never did find the solution, until now! Back up this key before you try this. It worked for me, but that doesn't mean it'll work for you. Better safe than sorry. Open Regedit Open \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Name-Space Handler\ Delete the keys "http", "https", and "ftp" Leave the 'mk' key The mk key is created by Windows and the others are created by getright 4.5, or some other dnld manager. (Because I don't recall ever installing getright) | |

OK, look, the issue is your browser is not sending HTTP_REFERER information. Turn off your privacy software, and see if that fixes it... if it does, it's absolutely that problem.
I changed the imageserver software, and this one is apparently "more strict" about this, than it used to be. So... unblock prince.org from your referrer blocking, and it should work. So far, according to the logs, the server has blocked (red X) about 28,000 avatar requests, but it has DELIVERED over 240,000... so it's working. I also looked at the referrers sent in the blocked logs and it's always empty, so that means a broken browser, or privacy software, are causing this. Okay just clicked on the link Matt provided, followed all the instructions for Internet Explorer 6 and Norton Antivirus, then rebooted my computer. Still having a problem with not seeing avatars. Not to be argumentive, but I honestly don't think it's anything on my end that's causing the problem. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you. | |

Only premium members can have avatars now and view other people's profiles. It's only 5.99 a month so it's a great deal. You'll need to send Ben a check. | |

Everythhing has slowed down since this "change" too, no avvies and emoticons take an age to appear.
I have no control of my security settings at work and thats when I have my most org time. This is significantly affecting my org enjoyment! Why the change? If it ain't broke don't fix it!
