Public airing of private matters in org note...

... reveals a real lack of class, IMHO.

It's sad when people can't sort things out quietly and privately like adults...

sigh

Well, good thing I won't be around much longer (moving to a spot of countryside where there's no ADSL). It'll make her happy, as I think she needs this place more than I do.

Thoughts?

Someone just told me it was against site rules - which I didn't know - so I went and looked it up:

"Respect others' privacy and belongings.
Don't post orgNotes, e-mails or other private correspondence in public forums. Don't make private information about other users, public. Don't take avatar or other graphics and use them as your own, or as the basis for your own, without permission."

evillol I have to chuckle, because this very thing has happened to me several times here--once with an ex-mod, of all people, after I'd deleted my account and couldn't explain/defend why I'd written what I had. The other was from someone that most people think is a perfect, sweet little angel--she couldn't handle my criticism of one of her posts in an orgnote, so she wrote a "Dear AnotherLover" thread and (among other things) compared me to CANCER!! eek

It's good that there's an official rule about it now. The ex-mod left my email up all day!! falloff

wave i'm the reason for this thread. heiress sent me an ORGnote taking me to task for one of my posts and i classlessly posted it on the ORG while telling her i preferred not to receive ORGnotes from her.

i stand corrected on the issue of posting ORGnotes, but not as to the content of my reply this i stand behind without regrets, even to the extent of receiving a warning or being banned.

shameless, me.

I just chalk that kind of thing up to emotional immaturity. Or love of drama... heaven knows, i suspects some folks here of not having the most exciting of lives, outside of the org that is.

hmm if you have a life outside the ORG, if you're 'mature' and despise drama, then why did you go to the lengths of creating this thread? surely you could make your point (and did make your point) by simply reporting my actions to the moderators? wasn't that enough?

but nooo. you need a bit more gratification than that don't you?

there's quite a difference between your public persona and your private persona. you've got more than one face going on there, heiress

this is obvious not only from the ORGnote you sent me, but from your creation of this thread as well.

It's happened to other people. I've seen it happen in the past, to other people. I did not, in fact, realize that there was a rule against this; it seemed to me an individual ethical matter. Then a friend pointed me to the rules, so I posted them here and in the other thread for the edification of everyone.

I have as much right as anyone else to enjoy this web site, and shall do so until I move in a couple of weeks and my time online will be considerably more limited. The org has been very helpful to me recently for research purposes; that's the main reason why I have been spending so much time here recently. There are some marvelous, very knowledgeable people here for whom I am deeply grateful - JediMaster, among others.

Anyway, thank you for the Bob Saget threads, they were quite entertaining and original.

Hey, XxAxX, Heiress brings up a good point. Where's our latest Bob Saget thread? I had a blast with those! Did you see Sin City? When Elijah Wood's character showed up, I actually thought of you! I thought to myself, "wouldn't this have been hysterical if Bob Saget played this part?" lol

That's a stupid way of going about telling her that, all you had to do was block her from orgnoting you. See, easy and drama-free.... I suspect that was part of the problem with my solution.

it's ok sweetie. i'm sorry we've butted heads lately. we do disagree on stuff, don't we? lol whoo

i hope you don't disappear from the ORG entirely after your move. just because i disagree with you doesn't mean that i don't sometimes enjoy your perspective, and sometimes benefit from it.

well yeah, i know that now. i honestly don't remember reading the bit about not posting ORGnotes in the site rules, or i wouldn't have done so.

i'm sort of biased against ORGnotes for discussions that arise from whatever is taking place in the public forums. my point of view is that if you have something to say, stand up and take ownership for your feelings and thoughts, publicly in the context of the discussion. however, i can see that at times this is not the best way.

ah well. live and learn wink
