I love this site to death, but lately, it seems that all newsworthy threads turn into a pissing match of opinions. It's great to announce to people that may not have known otherwise that tickets for a particular band are going on sale, or an interesting website that might be useful to someone. However, the site is getting totally clogged with "Let's compare Prince with Michael Jackson" or "If Prince was a salad dressing, what kind would he be" type-threads.

Therefore, I propose that if you want to offer an "opinion" do so in the proper place. Then, if people want to debate to the death that they are right and someone else is wrong.... FINE! But don't subject the rest of us to your opinions! There's a reason for the expression "Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one."

I come on to this site to read the news, not to help people sleep better at night because it's burning inside them to voice their feelings on a particular topic. It's not to say that I've never participated in a debate on this site either, because I have. However, people don't give constructive criticism.. It's ALL OR NOTHING on this site, and since life is most often not that way, why should a fucking website dedicated to Prince be that way?

Can I get an "amen"?

i really hope prince puts out a new album or something soon.

Me too...I come to this site for enjoyment, Prince knowledge, and the occassional "fun/nonsense" thread. Here lately I am skipping more and more threads becasue they are either so silly, disgusting, or outrageous it is getting hard to take.

I have never reported anyone and there are some "thread starters" I do not even visit anymore (that number is growing!) I understand that this is free and open site, but I gotta say that sometimes I think all of the worlds social ills are revealed here and we (I DO consider myself an Orger) help in perpetrating them; homophobia, stereotyping, racism, favortism, etc.

I do not expect everyone to love Prince and play nice with each other, but the simple respect for one another appears to have gone down a few notches in the last few months. I am sure you have identified why, Anx, but should that justify just being plain banal and mean?

I just don't know that filth and disrespect were the intended direction of prince.org. And I am not sure boredom justifies some of the things I have seen, even when I have deliberately attempted to ignore!
