I will answer this question seriously as a member of this site that has been here for 5 plus years and posted squillions of times.

I think that the org has taken a turn for the worse. I think that it has become a confused and unwelcome place. It has much to do in my opinion with the heavy handed moderation that occurs here. The banning of 2the9s has been a watershed moment at the org for many of us.

I dont know why The Frog left exactly but I do know that before he did that he was obviously displeased with some things here.

Just think of how many people have left over the last few months. There are many, many missing orgers.

There are also many orgers who would once be called "prolific posters" who barely post here anymore, if they arn't already banned. Prince brought me to this site but it is the people who make me want to stay, but that pull isnt there if those people arn't here.

The org will live on, and plenty of people will post shit about how what i posted is melodramatic waffle. That people always come back blah blah blah. But the truth is that many dont come back and ths place is worse off for it.

p.s I'm NOT suggesting that The Frog left because of the recent org drama, but it probably didnt help.

i can see both sides of this ongoing drama.

on the one hand it's true that this is not a public website. it is owned, operated and paid for (money and large amounts of time) by people who are generous enough to share their work product with us, free of charge. they ask that we abide by their rules. it's only common courtesy for us to try and do so. if they ask us to do something directly, we should do it. period. the times that i've seen individual members run into trouble are the times when a moderator asks/warns them not to do something, and they continue. so i feel we have an obligation to play by the rules, no matter how we feel about them. the fact remains that we are guests here.

on the other hand the argument can be made that this website is what it is because we, the people, make it so. we bring our time, personality and energy here as well. we contribute and make this one of the more successful websites around. the very fact that we care about and feel ownership toward the ORG is proof of what a success this site really is.

i'm not sure what's going on around here these last two weeks. maybe it's the annual holiday stress factor? or post-election trauma? maybe it's the inevitable sparks flying from the influx of new members following prince's tour? growing pains at the ORG? over the years i've noticed that sometimes the ORG's energy seems to spike and things shift around, then settle back down again. the ORG is evolving too, think of the changes it's been through.

anyway i'm sticking around a while longer. in fact, when i finally pop off i'm planning to have quotes from the ORG and my total number of posts inscribed on my headstone

Listen, maybe it is just me, but I thought I would type what I was feeling, whether it be right or wrong. I have had several discussions with fellow orgers lately and it is fair to say that the concerns I raised are shared by many.
