forget the ongoing org controversy this is different....why don't the mods come and tell us if we are even worth it...

"Drama" some people act so distant from it , yet they create a lot of it and they are responsible for how things have turned out.then they want you to get over it.. If I'm understood then fine and if not then you have a one track mind .... I wonder if the vibe here will become positive again?!?... some will never understand others emotions or feelings because they never would care to put themselves in someone elses shoes... in my best prince voice their 2 cool 4 dat ..... rolleyes

Over all I wonder if any of the mods can admit that sometimes when someone is given authority they can get a little out of hand with pushing that authority.... 4 threads locked in a row

cyber anarchy sorta.... I wonder why would someone want to be a moderator unless it's a mature community that is fun and worth keeping an eye on..... All we're doing it seems is bugging a current moderator ....

I wish we could have an open forum where they (the moderators)would tell us what they don't like about us and why they feel they want to stay and moderate us... this thread might get locked but then it may not even be overlooked but I will say I didn't mention any names ... this is to all of the mods mainly and to anyone else that thinks the vibe here feels funky...

I used to hate reading some of the negative comments on www.housequake.com about the org.... this jointto me seemed to have a solid community... and any other site was just hatin on the fact that we could actually poke fun at Prince over here instead of constantly kiss his ass plus our gen disc. forum was at times more active than the prince forum with every day people shootin the shit, laughing, frolicking, hardly ever really needing a moderator to step in and regulate...

It's diminished massively and if there isn't an understanding between each other then I guess most people may feel as uncomfortable as I have been lately... I remember a time when we were all friends here! what happened?

positivity is just around the corner
allow positivity to come back here so we can somewhat breath again!
p.s. where's HAYSTACK question

Open commentary on how things are handled is not open if it's being so heavily moderated when there happens to be things that aren't agreed with.

When things get into out of hand name calling, then I can understand moderation, but to censor questions being raised?

How can opinions be shared and things changed for the better in all aspects (not just current controversys) if there isn't a trust that we're asking questions because we care about the state and future of this site.

I have been having as much fun as ever in the forums I tend to go to.

From what I can see, the 4 threads which were consecutively locked all revolved around the same topic. A topic which has been hammered to death in the past weeks. A topic which Ben is now addressing as we all know. And, when Ben let us know he was adressing the issue, he also closed down discussion on it. This is his site, these are his rules. Let the man address the situation and see what happens.

If I've learned anything about this place, it's that "this too shall pass."

I really don't mean to disregard anyone's feelings. I just feel the mods (all the way up to BEN) are making it clear that these topics are closed for the time being. As someone who's stayed basically removed from this whole deal (except for occasional lurking) I just thought I'd point that out.

I can actually say to you that I respect your opinion man! I'm not really focusing on the four threads just locked but the many threads in many forums that are locked or moved or deleted and the reason why this happens so often now..It's already known that this is ben's sight and I think everybody who has enjoyed themselves here in the past appreciated his efforts in making this site! Thanks ben! But there are personal issues between people here that have now made the mood sort of dull! Some are unresolved and some are just swept under the rug and peep out later.... Oh well such is life in an imperfect world! Maybe if a few of us others that hadn't gone to the recent Minnie invasion could have made it there we could all have had great conversations/discussions/opinions etc in person! both the mods and the org members!

Reincarnate

My views on one particular issue notwithstanding, I think the moderators have a thankless task.

I do appreciate what you guys do and that you're often caught between a rock and a hard place.

I do think some very questionable decisions have been made in the past, but I see that there are some very dedicated moderators who are working hard to improve things. I think that threads are sometimes locked too quickly, which prevents good discussion/argument, and I don't like it when threads just disappear - I don't know whether it's moderators or originators deleting them, but I think locking a thread is always preferable to deleting it completely.

Although I will remain very vocal about decisions or issues that are of concern to me, it doesn't mean that I don't understand it's a very difficult job at times, and appreciate the moderators who give up their free time to do it.

All in all I think they do a fine job. I've only had issues with the inconsistency of moderation, but after I thought about it a bit more, I guess it'd be difficult to put your feelings aside about orgers - good, bad, or indifferent. If you don't like someone, how easy would it be to lock/delete their thread or deactivate them, if you like someone, it would be easy to let things slide and if you didn't care either way for an orger, it'd be easy to lock their threads if you don't agree with what they created or if you thought it didn't warrant being posted. They're only human and can't just put their emotions aside because they have "the power", especially since they were "one of us" at one time or another and since they post in the forums themselves.

It'd be easier and more consistent, I think, if they were strictly mods and didn't participate on the threads and never have.

It's not just happening now... it's happened in the past with other moderators. The only time that I can't remember these issues coming up was in the old purple and black days, but then, there were fewer mods, too (if any at all... wasn't it only Matt back then... I can't remember). I dunno...

Actually, my moderation powers back then were extremely limited. All I could do was approve (with or without editing) or disapprove news items that were submitted to us. But I couldn't do anything about the comments posted beneath each news item. The very few times we had comments get out of hand, Ben had to go in and manually clean things up (or disallow further replies).
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

Yeah, that's basically what I was going to say. When MY "major org dramas" were going on (Statement of Love and Quaidbowl, for those of you just tuning in biggrin ), it seemed to me like the org had gone to shit, the mods sucked, the format sucked, the good people were all gone, and what's the damn point any more? wall

And then it blew over.

And to the people who weren't involved, nothing was ever wrong. If they even knew about the drama, it was just sort of an amusing sideshow. And that attitude was frustrating to those of us involved! lol

Really. The org is the same as it has always been. It'll be ok.

I think TACKAM hit the nail on the head in her post. I think a user's relative closeness to whichever Org Drama we'd like to discuss completely paints their view of how the Org as a whole is functioning.

I have not been very close to these recent events. So, with the exception of the threads I've read in THIS forum, I have noticed few big changes in the Org since November. The Non-P forum is as fun as ever.

Surprisingly, very little time during the Org Invasion was spent rehashing org-drama. Of course things did come up. Actually, the first night, when it was a smaller group we did spend a chunk o time talking about things. I think the real power of that (and any) meet-up is not so much the chance to speak face-to-face about the drama/issues/concerns but instead just having the chance to speak face-to-face.

Orgers who maybe didn't always get along the best on-line got along just fine in the real world. I believe some of that diplomacy carries over to the site. I know for me it does. It's much more difficult to demonize and attack someone you've met face-to-face and thus have more of a sense that they are a person.

For me, meeting face-to-face also makes these dramas seem a little less intense and real and often a bit silly. I say silly because I know we could all sit in a room and rise above the crap in a very short amount of time. Unfortunately, we don't often have that chance. So, issues come up and are overanalyzed and disected over and over and over again on the org.

Again, I don't mean to minimize any of what people are feeling. If you are feeling it, it is real to you. I know my extended org-breaks came from real frustrations I had about the site and those breaks helped clear my head a lot.

I hope those who are upset now, find a way to move on and "heal". Sadly, I know for some this will only be done by leaving. But if that's what it takes for a person to be happy, so be it.

hmmm I can't say I agree with her. She mentions "to the people who weren't involved nothing was ever wrong".... well maybe she's right about half of those who never read the contents of the Quaidbowl or never got a chance to read about it here because it would get snipped immediately. But the ones who were not involved that did witness both the site and the outcome here after the site was exposed were very angry, sad, and some felt let down because they never had any idea that some of those QB folks would say or think in the manner they wrote there... I will orgnote this post to you in case it gets snipped too!

also I have a hard time taking mellisa seriously because she's sarcastic and at times says things to belittle people for speaking up but when she has a personal problem we should all cry her a river... cry plus she said ben is God so wether that was a sarcastic remark or the way she really feels I think those who she thinks don't care cuz their not involved might be watching and reconsidering their opinions on any given org dramatic event!!! maybe I'm wrong but why do threads get started asking the question of "why are people leaving?" or "whatever" edited but obviously QuaidBowl related?

Wooo, here we go

The orgers are hot

Come on get some, up in Endo's kitchen baby
You bring the orgers and I'll bring the booze
It's been so long since we've been down in the kitchen baby
My desire's running longer than a thread about countin' all your shoes

So true, we'll make emoticon faces in person
So real, all the drama will melt away
And if you're good baby
The mods will let you see your strike record
Come on get some, get some, get some
Up in Endo's kitchen

Don't you just love spring time in Minneapolis
Matt workin' that record box
kick-kickin' out the purple jams
Violett dancin for all the girls too toasted to move
Love is in the air
Org bullshit be damned

So true, we'll make emoticon faces in person
So real, all the drama will melt away
And if you're good baby,
The mods will let you see your strike record
Come on get some, get some, get some
Up in Endo's kitchen
