It's not cool to call people out the way you did, and people have been told over and over how to deal with problems like the one you're having. It's nothing special about you or Handclapsfingasnapz. I only commented on the way things are done around here. The first post of this thread was about race, so I included the P&R forum as a place where race is discussed. so because I mention religion in this thread, is it gonna get moved over to P&R? Or if I say Prince its also gonna get moved to Prince Forum?

Discretion MODERATION is there to correct and protect. As a senior Moderator Handsclap was called, in a forum where threads have been needlessly locked. Why are threads locked when there is nothing wrong with them? The threads were hasty, broad generalizations about various races. Some people may consider them offensive, some may not. It so happens that some of us moderating the site considered them offensive, and out of line with the forum rules. There is no black and white, crystal clear criteria for exactly what can and cannot be said. It's exactly as you stated above, discretion. But just because one mods opinion of what is offensive and what is not doesnt isn't the same as yours, doesn't necessarily mean its wrong.

But just because one mods opinion of what is offensive and what is not doesnt isn't the same as yours, doesn't necessarily mean its wrong. So what you are saying is that if you think it's offensive it gets locked. That, my friend, is not moderation. We all have a different level of offence, but as moderators surely it is your "job" (for want of a better word) to encourage fair play and good general discussion OBJECTIVELY. If it is clearly offensive then lock it, if not let it pan out, don't judge it against your personal morals; that is not moderation. Lolly is right on, why not post a warning instead of locking on a presumption that chaos MIGHT ensue? Thanks for taking time to explain your corner though.
