Politics and Religion Stickys

It may be just me, but having to refer to the stickys for the Debates MAY be stifling conversation on those topics. I know it took me a while to start replying to the thread because of how long the thread was when I got to it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Suggestion:

Have a Mutating/Hot Topics Forum. Right now, the big deal is the Debates/Elections, having that available would allow more threads to be made without hijacking the entire P & R forum. Plus, it could be used in the future for other hot topics, like Prince's Missing Rib Bone. wink

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

At least have a separate sticky for each debate.

Multiple threads on one topic are a pain in the ass, so I'm generally a fan of consolidating, and the stickys are great.

But in this case, it's unfair to have one extremely long thread to discuss three different debates.

in general, i'm not sure if i'm crazy about having one sticky thread for all topics concerning this year's election. i think it's a bit much to ask people to observe that rule when they're already posting in a politics forum. i also think there are many facets to an election, and it's a bit confusing to throw all those facets together on one big thread and expect everyone to maintain some semblence of focus. in my humble and respectful opinion, i think it compromises the quality of dialog in the forum.

i would agree if thats whats being done...people are free to create "issue" related thread or a thread on a specific facet of the election like your say..

what i am trying to prevent though are threads like "i want bush to win cause kerry sucks" or "i hate kerry" types of threads that offer nothing to the discussion other then the author's rhetoric....having the gd thread filters all that stuff out...for awhile the first page was being cluttered with this stuff..
