Upgrade complete!

Well, it was only 1 hour of downtime to migrate to the new database, due to a lot of work we did earlier in the weekend. So far, so good!

I'm continuing to test, so let me know if new buggy things show up... but here is what got changed that you should notice:

1. Site should be faster (I hope!) and more reliable.
2. Added first-line summary on mouseover thread title in forum listing (suggested by 1p1p1i3)
3. Gallery, forum overview, and threadviews should be faster due to added caching
4. Minor gallery changes (show moderator, give credit to Uptown, line breaks on descriptions displayed properly when clicking through on an image)
5. Colored text inside quoted areas doesn't break anymore (bug reported by Natsume)
6. New, shorter "message has been edited" wording (suggested by EvilWhiteMale)
7. Fixed one bug where you could be shown as logged off when you were still on. This problem probably is not fixed 100% yet, though.
8. Search is re-enabled!

Let me know your experience after the changes.

Known issues so far:
1. The "online" button under people's names in the forum doesn't always reflect true status. (I will fix this relatively soon, or remove it).
2. Some/most of the data on the homepage is not being updated properly. I'm looking into it now. Update 3:25pm: I think it's fixed now.

The site appears to be running much smoother and faster. Just a couple of minor issues..

1. The 'whose online' looks a bit scruffy. It lists people whose account doesn't exist as being online. Also, if there is a large number of people online it covers the 'terms and conditions' link at the bottom.

2. I'd quite like to have the option to see where Orgers were on the site as previously available. That would be cool to have back.

Cheers for all your efforts Ben and team!

Really? Like what account is shown, that doesn't exist?
And the other, layout problem... well, it's been like that for a while. It's annoyed me for a long time, and should be easy to fix... but I haven't managed to fix it yet. Hopefully soon.

Might be cool, but has a not-insignificant performance impact. So, it's not likely to return anytime soon, I'm afraid. But I'll ponder alternatives...

Well, it looks like it appears to have been fixed now. One example was CtheUncanny. I clicked on the name on the front page and it said that the account did not exist. This was maybe 2 or weeks ago.

Thanks for making a good site even better

It may be my imagination (and there's lots of it)...but it seemed to speed up

...before downtime....

Again...thanks for the time and effort...

still got bugs in the mod system, ben--whenever you lock a thread, after you click that little confirmation button, the screen goes blank. also, none of the current moderation actions show up on the mod page like they used to.

bug

I had blank screens after editing that were not 'refresh-able', so to speak.

And normally I could see my own handle on the fornt page as ONLINE. Not now though, has that been altered?

But for the rest; it all looks mighty good, esp the color bug in the quote finally being gone!

No orgnote capabilities yet. You can send one without error, but the recipient doesn't get it, and it also doesn't show in the recently sent list.

Oh, And we can see the tell-tale of the threads which needs approving

And there's a third squiggle next to a user-name, which is prolly ment for the mods only.

reminder: do not use html tags to call out a word, as it will be clipped. redface

Don't know as yet whether this problem is cookie related from My end, Ben, but when i click a highlighted subscribed thread in "my Org:account settings and stats", check the new post and return; the thread is still highlighted .i.e. seems to not recognise i've looked at the post .Ive done this a couple of times & also different 'subscibed threads' , but the highlight is still on. ?

Me, either...which is weird, cuz I responded to one orgNote this morning, and it DID work. I have it in my "recently sent" orgnotes list...but when I then tried to send an orgNote to someone who had not sent me an orgnote already, it stopped working... hmmm

The folder thing is working funny for me too (the folder that shows color is there's something you haven't read). Going empty when it shouldn't and all going full in forums I've read in.
