Ok before you punce me like a box of crickets realize that you had to have a note posted at the top of the "Non-Prince" board saying not to post too many MJ topics. Well people are not only posting MJ topics day after day they are coming into a topic not based on MJ morphing it into an MJ topic.
I know, they can go to an MJ board, and this site is dedicated to Prince so it would be stupid to have an MJ board. BUT it would keep those MJ fans happy and they can discuss and argue MJ all day long in there without bothering the people who wanna discuss Bjork or Cher.

I know this probably wont happen but it's my thought of the moment, ok bye!

A lot of P fans derive from MJ fans so it seems MJ is the second most famous artist on this site. If we can keep the MJ fans happy maybe we can keep the other topics and forums clear of MJ intrusion.

Since I posted that notation at the top of the "Music: Non-Prince" forum, I've received both positive and negative responses... but hell, I got plenty of flack for making an MJ "sticky" thread during the hey-day over the initial trial proceedings.

However, the amount of MJ posts have dropped incredibly (believe me, it was much worse!) and the amount of "silly" MJ posts that have been locked or hidden have been fewer.

Still, a forum for just MJ on a Prince web site? I would not back that idea.

We're lucky that ben has decided to place a non-Prince forum in the first place... let's not get greedy.

As far as threads being turned into MJ pros and cons... report it to us and we'll do our best to salvage the thread into the original topic, or lock it completely based on the thread's content.

Still, ben's the one who decides these things... as for me? I vote NO.

This is a Prince site. I am sure there are MJ sites around. If we include MJ here then peeps will want their fave artists here too.

Nope, i'm seriously opposed to this idea. Most folks know i'm an MJ fan as well as a Prince fan, but it's a matter of being fair to the members of this site. there are plenty of MJ boards about (none of the quality of the org and full of silly, irrelevant 'I love Michael, he's so sexy' type posts. Annoying and lightweight maybe, but that's the cross we bare)

As it is, non-prince music should be the place to FREELY discuss MJ if you want, i find the disclaimer at the top of the forum aggravating, unfair and unwarranted. I've never seen one for Janet or Madonna, and they (to my mind) get equal coverage in that forum.

It does get annoying here when it's MJ this and that Blah Blah Blah, but HAVE to say i've noticed more than one person who hates MJ in the Prince forum but have a bizarre habit of constantly bringing him up to take the piss out of him or dare i say it, yep, compare him to Prince, or critique his looks, his dancing and even his clothes, when there is plainly no need to as it's sometimes totally out of context with the thread.

I just wish these people were respectful of other users who do like both guys, as we're not just one or a few, but more than you think. It should be noted it's not just MJ fans who need to think before they post around here.

Anyone who knows me (or knows of me) can tell you I am one of Michael's biggest fans. I've always mentioned that my Prince collection is only rivaled by Michael. There is no way I would be a part of something that would be unfair to him... in fact it's quite the opposite. One of the reasons behind the overt moderation of Michael threads are simply because they are mostly negative and get very ugly. This keeps the mostly negative threads in check as well as offering some kind of balance to the site.

I stand behind the statement, but remind others that it does not only apply to Michael... silly, nonsense, or duplicate threads of any artist will not be allowed - and the authors should expect swift and just action.

That is my intent anyway... I hope that makes things a little clearer.

I think it's a bit of a ridiculous idea to have a Michael Jackson forum or even a Michael Jackson sticky for that matter. I'm sure I speak for many Orgers in that I have little to no interest in Michael Jackson at all so I'm not going to say the 1st word on him unless I have something I want to say. Why should Michael Jackson be given exclusivity as opposed to anyone else?! Michael Jackson threads have a place in the Non-Prince music forum and the only viable option in my mind is that if you are so pissed off about all the Michael Jackson threads, then bloody well create a thread about a group or artist you want to talk about and discuss.
